Hai Phong workers study and practice following Ho Chi Minh's example

80 years ago, on October 20, 1946, returning from France to the Fatherland, President Ho Chi Minh set foot on Ngu wharf (Hai Phong Port) after a historic visit marking the diplomatic journey to protect the young independence of the country. This is the first time he has visited Hai Phong, a great honor and pride for the Party Committee, government and people of Hai Phong city.

From that historical milestone, Hai Phong City was honored to welcome Uncle Ho to visit 14 times, including 9 times he visited Hai Phong, 5 times visiting Hai Duong (old). His teachings to the Party Committee, government, and people of the city, especially to the trade union and the city's working class, are still deeply imprinted at Hai Phong Port, Duyen Hai Cement and Mechanical Factory, Cat Hai, Cat Ba, Hai Duong Porcelain Factory, Hong Thai, Nam Chinh... Looking back at the ideological legacy He left for the working class is of direct and decisive significance as a guiding principle, a great source of spiritual motivation in building and developing the city's working class in particular, and Hai Phong City in general.

The city's working class has continued the spirit and atmosphere of the traditional "Duyen Hai Wave", not accepting backwardness, daring to think, daring to do, constantly improving and enhancing quality and efficiency. Learning from Uncle Ho in the spirit of learning, creativity, and the style of saying and doing, in the past 5 years, the whole city recorded more than 160,000 solutions and initiatives of workers (NLĐ), with 561 topics awarded Creative Labor Certificates, making a profit of more than 405 billion VND. In 2026 alone, Hai Phong workers contributed more than 47,000 solutions and initiatives in production and business activities.

Studying and practicing the style of solidarity, compassion, "the healthy leaf protects the torn leaf", living responsibly with the community from Uncle Ho, in the period 2021-2025, union members and workers donated more than 15,600 units of blood; contributed and mobilized nearly 300 billion VND for social security activities. In the period 2023-2025, the city commended 111 typical advanced examples (39 collectives, 72 typical individuals) and 91 typical families of workers, civil servants, and laborers in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's moral example. Thereby creating motivation for moral values such as responsibility, honesty, dedication, thrift, creativity and solidarity to become standards in the working environment.

Regarding the activities of Hai Phong Trade Union: Following Uncle Ho's teachings, Hai Phong Trade Union organization has continuously developed and matured, becoming a fulcrum for a large number of union members and workers in the city. In the period 2021 - 2026, trade union levels in the city organized more than 7,500 conferences and thematic activities for more than 1 million turns of officials, union members, and workers.

Outstanding results

According to leaders of Hai Phong City Labor Federation: The work of caring for and protecting workers' rights, applying Uncle Ho's "for people" ideology, with the goal of "Raising the level of representation and care for workers", every year, the city has allocated 1,400 billion VND to serve workers. Accordingly, 100% of union members in difficult circumstances are supported promptly; more than 40% of workers enjoy preferential treatment from welfare programs and 72% are improved spiritual life through programs such as: "Tet Sum vay", "Trade Union Tet Market", "Job Fair"... In 2026, the City Labor Federation organizes "Trade Union Meals" for more than 300,000 union members, collective running events to improve health for union members and workers with over 150,000 participants...

In addition, grassroots trade unions have gradually implemented learning from Uncle Ho into representative capacity. The whole city has 2,135/2,604 collective labor agreements signed with about 25,000 workers benefiting. Over 70% of businesses coordinate to organize dialogues at workplaces. In the 2021-2025 period, the whole city has newly admitted more than 326,000 union members, reaching 116% of the plan assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and the City Party Committee.

According to a representative of Hai Phong City Labor Federation: The above results show that studying Uncle Ho among workers, laborers and Hai Phong Trade Union levels has had quite comprehensive changes, reflected in the political awareness, patriotism of the working class, and the contributions of the working class to Party building, economic development, and ensuring security and order from the grassroots level. Learning from Uncle Ho has clearly shifted from raising political awareness to practicing demeanor, discipline, creativity, and the spirit of mastery. Many typical examples of creative labor, typical worker families, social security activities, and the model of "Socialist grassroots trade unions" have affirmed the vitality of Ho Chi Minh's thought in practice.
