Hanoi - On September 13, the IX National Congress of the Vietnam Folklore Arts Association, term 2026 - 2031, entered the official working session.

The Vietnam Folklore Arts Association is an organization assigned by the Party and State to collect, research, disseminate and teach folk culture and arts of Vietnamese ethnic groups.

In the VIII term, despite many difficulties, the Association still achieved remarkable results in collecting and researching, with a large number of works participating in the award consideration and many books published. Membership development work was maintained, in which the number of young members increased significantly compared to the previous term.

In localities, members of the Vietnam Folklore Arts Association actively participate in folk culture collection and research activities, contributing to the 5-year awards of the Provincial and City Literature and Arts Associations. Thereby, contributing to protecting and promoting the traditional cultural values of ethnic groups.

A new point in the past term is the coordination between branches in the same area, creating a forum for exchange and exchange of operating experiences. According to the Association, this is a model that needs to be further replicated in the coming time.

Entering the IX term, the Vietnam Folklore Arts Association identified one of the key tasks as promoting the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.

The Association sets a goal to comprehensively innovate its operating methods, in which digital transformation is identified as a breakthrough, aiming to preserve and promote the value of intangible cultural heritage in the technology era.

Highly appreciating the results achieved by the Association in term VIII, Mr. Tran Thang said that the Association has closely followed the Party's guidelines and policies on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people; deploying relatively comprehensively all aspects of work, thereby contributing to enhancing the role and position of the Association in the country's cultural life.

The IX Congress takes place in the context of the country entering a new era, implementing the Resolution of the XIV Party Congress, setting out the requirement to maximize all resources for development. In which, culture is identified as the spiritual foundation, goal and important endogenous driving force of sustainable development.

Regarding digital transformation, the leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front proposed that the Association strongly innovate its operating methods, promote the application of technology in preserving and spreading folk culture; build appropriate communication forms on a digital platform, thereby expanding the ability to reach the public, especially young people.

Another task emphasized is to research and propose to the Party and State appropriate mechanisms and policies to care for and encourage members, researchers and especially folk artisans in remote and isolated areas, and ethnic minority areas.

According to Mr. Tran Thang, these are people who are silently preserving traditional cultural values in difficult conditions. Honoring, treating and creating conditions for artisans to pass on heritage to future generations is therefore of particular importance.
