Chairwoman Bui Thi Minh Hoai attends the Congress of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations

Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front (MTTQ), central mass organizations, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front - attended and delivered directing speeches at the Congress.

Also attending the Congress were Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Chairman of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association; Mr. Nguyen Phi Long - Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central mass organizations, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; leaders of central agencies and 500 typical delegates representing the Union of Friendship Organizations in provinces and cities.

People-to-people diplomacy shifts strongly towards substance

In the past term, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations implemented the motto "proactive, flexible, creative, effective", with many innovations in task implementation.

From the main mindset of exchange and friendship, the Union's activities are gradually closerly linked to the goal of socio-economic development of the country. The network of friends and international partners continues to be consolidated and expanded towards multilateralization, diversification and depth.

People-to-people diplomacy has shifted from "purely exchange" to "creating political content", contributing to building a "people's heart formation", creating a favorable social foundation for relations between Vietnam and other countries.

Foreign non-governmental work is deployed methodically and professionally. Foreign non-governmental aid mobilization activities contribute to socio-economic development goals, environmental protection, improving people's lives, and at the same time are associated with the requirements of ensuring national security, politics and sovereignty.

Strongly innovate content and operating methods

Speaking to direct the Congress, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai emphasized that the Congress opens a new development path for the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations.

According to Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai, people-to-people diplomacy is a unique creation of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, imbued with Vietnamese identity and character; the strength of people-to-people diplomacy is ignited from the spirit of great national unity combined with international solidarity.

The Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front proposed that in the new term, the Union strongly innovate the content and methods of operation in a practical and effective direction; shifting from valuing quantity to quality, focusing on depth.

People-to-people diplomacy needs to strongly shift to a development-creating model, increasing the efficiency of economic, trade, investment, science and technology connections; and at the same time expanding foreign affairs space, consolidating bilateral relations, and enhancing multilateral positions.

The Union is also proposed to propose initiatives, shape the agenda at major international people's forums; strengthen connections with scholars, entrepreneurs, research institutes and young people who love Vietnam.

Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai also proposed building a streamlined, professional, and effective organizational structure; completing a common database system on partners, overseas Vietnamese, experts and operating processes on a digital platform.

At the first Conference of the Executive Committee of the VII term, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations of the VII term included 97 members, and the Standing Committee included 22 members. Mr. Phan Anh Son continued to be trusted and elected as Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations of the VII term.
