Phu Khanh railway is ready to welcome new technology

50 years keeping the rhythm of trains
On September 29, Phu Khanh Railway Joint Stock Company held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Tradition Day (October 1, 1976 - October 1, 2026).
Mr. Le Van Hieu - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company - said that the anniversary is an opportunity for generations of officials and workers (CNLĐ) to review the historical journey, express gratitude to their predecessors and add motivation for today's generation to move towards the future.
According to Mr. Pham Nguyen Chien - Director of the Company, on October 1, 1976, Phu Khanh Railway Area, the predecessor of Phu Khanh Railway Joint Stock Company, was established and was assigned to manage nearly 300km of railway on the Thong Nhat railway line, through a complex terrain with many high passes, long tunnels, deep abysses and frequently affected by storms and floods.
In the context of material facilities still lacking, bridge and road workers not only repair roads, repair bridges, ensure safety of every meter of rail but also contribute to maintaining the North-South traffic route, serving the people and the country.
Half a century has been marked by workers guarding level crossings, patrolling roads, bridges, and tunnels persistently sticking to the route; maintenance forces day and night overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and technical staff closely monitoring the scene to ensure safety for each train trip.
At the anniversary ceremony, generations of officials and workers presented many valuable historical documents and artifacts to be preserved in the Tradition Room.
Including a photo taken in 1985 of generations of leaders of Binh Dinh - Binh Thuan Railway Section II when it was taken over after 1975 and Phu Khanh Railway Area from 1976.
In particular, the French-made goong ban, which was used in the early days of building the Indochinese railway and used by generations of workers in production labor, was also preserved and donated by the Deo Ca Railway Team.
Innovation to be ready for a new journey
According to Mr. Pham Nguyen Chien, the important milestone on the 50-year journey is when the Company switched to the joint-stock company model.
Equitization leads to the requirement to innovate management thinking, improve efficiency, competitiveness and adaptability of employees. The company gradually promotes mechanization, applies science and technology, invests in new equipment, and gradually replaces manual labor.
Revenue increased from 143 billion VND in 2016 to 271.5 billion VND in 2025; average income of employees increased from 6.7 million VND to 12.2 million VND/person/month.
In 2026, the Company expects revenue to reach 298.8 billion VND, with an average income of 13.4 million VND/person/month.
At the anniversary ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tat Thuong - Deputy Secretary in charge of the Party Committee of Vietnam National Railways Group - emphasized that the railway industry is facing development opportunities when the high-speed railway project on the North-South axis and many new railway lines are being prepared for deployment.
For Phu Khanh Railway Joint Stock Company, 6 requirements are set out. Among them, the focus is on continuing to ensure train safety, innovate management, promote the application of science and technology and digital transformation, and proactively participate in railway renovation and upgrade projects.
In particular, improve labor productivity, improve working conditions and income of workers, pay attention to training and retraining of management staff, engineers, and technical workers; encourage technical innovation initiatives, assign tasks to the younger generation, and prepare human resources to access modern railway technology.
