Nearly 10,000 railway workers enjoy welfare benefits each year
The Vietnam Railway Trade Union innovates operations, strongly focuses on grassroots levels, and practically cares for the lives, jobs and rights of workers, especially specialized labor forces.
Ensuring rights from negotiation and dialogue
Mr. Ha Trong Thang - Chairman of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union - said that implementing Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on "Innovating the organization and operation of the Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation", the Vietnam Railway Trade Union has implemented many solutions to innovate operations in a practical direction, strongly focusing on grassroots levels, focusing on representing, protecting rights and taking care of the lives of union members and workers (NLĐ).
Over the past time, Trade Unions at all levels in the sector have proactively participated in building mechanisms and policies related to employees, coordinating to supervise the implementation of regimes and policies at the grassroots level.
In the period 2021 - 5/2026, the entire industry maintains the implementation of 58 collective labor agreements at units. Notably, the Parent Company - Vietnam Railways Corporation has signed collective labor agreements applied to 22 units and affiliated branches. Maintaining and improving the quality of collective labor agreements contributes to creating a basis to ensure the rights, working conditions and policies for employees.
Dialogue work at the workplace is maintained regularly, from the grassroots level to the industry level. The industry level alone has organized 5 direct dialogues with employees in specific positions such as level crossing guards, road patrol workers, train drivers, train dispatchers...
Through dialogue, Trade Unions and businesses have more basis to grasp thoughts and aspirations, and promptly remove difficulties and obstacles arising from practical work.
23.5 billion VND to support union members each year
On average, each year, the entire industry spends about 23.5 billion VND on activities to care for and support union members and workers; nearly 10,000 turns of union members and workers enjoy trade union support and welfare programs annually. A noteworthy point is that care resources are increasingly focused on the right targets, especially direct workers, workers in difficult circumstances and those working in mountainous, remote and isolated areas.
For collectives directly performing tasks, the Trade Union and the Corporation have supported funding, provided equipment, and improved working and living conditions for 137 collectives, with an amount of nearly 3.2 billion VND.
One of the activities clearly showing concern for the special labor force of the industry is taking care of workers who have to work on New Year's Eve. In moments when many families gather, many railway workers still have to stick to their positions and perform their duties.
Understanding that specific characteristic, leaders of Vietnam Railways Corporation and the Vietnam Railway Trade Union called to wish Tet to employees working on New Year's Eve. Organized visits and Tet greetings for 24,224 turns of employees working directly and directly related to train operations on New Year's Eve, with an amount of 2.423 billion VND.
The Trade Union also supported 155 pairs of train tickets for workers in difficult circumstances to return to their hometowns for Tet, with an amount of nearly 700 million VND.
Mr. Ha Trong Thang - Chairman of the Vietnam Railway Trade Union - commented: "The work of caring for and representing the protection of workers' rights has been effectively implemented with many meaningful models, creating a spread and being agreed upon and highly appreciated by union members and workers.
