Lao Dong Publishing House in coordination with the Trade Union Project Management Board launched a free reading space for workers.

Implementing Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW dated January 7, 2026 of the Politburo and Plan No. 24-KH-TLĐ dated July 16, 2026 of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, on the afternoon of September 25, Lao Dong Publishing House coordinated with the Trade Union Project Management Board to launch the Free Reading Space for workers at Dong Van II Industrial Park, Dong Van ward, Ninh Binh province.

Attending the program were Comrade Mai Thi Thanh Hang, Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Member of the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of the General Confederation, Director - Editor-in-Chief of Lao Dong Publishing House; Comrade Nguyen Van Loi, Deputy Head of the Trade Union Project Management Board; Comrade Pham Viet Hung, Head of the Asset Exploitation Management Department, Trade Union Project Management Board; along with officials of the Publishing House, Trade Union Project Management Board and a large number of workers and children of workers living in residential areas.

Nearly 800 book titles waiting for workers to discover

The reading space is built with the desire to create a convenient, friendly reading space, suitable for the needs of workers after working hours and at the same time contribute to improving cultural and spiritual life, encouraging reading habits, self-study and proactive access to knowledge.

At the reading space, there are currently nearly 800 books, selected and arranged according to 4 main topic groups including: Literature - Life; Economy - Politics - Law; Science - Common sense; and Children's books.

Notably, arranging a separate section of children's books helps the reading space not only for workers but also towards their children. This is also one of the highlights of the model, when reading is expanded from the needs of workers to building a common reading environment for the whole family.

Books in many fields help readers find content suitable for different needs: from literature books, life skills, general knowledge to economics, law, science and children's books. Through this, reading space contributes to bringing books and knowledge closer to the daily life of workers and laborers.

Speaking at the program, Comrade Mai Thi Thanh Hang, Director - Editor-in-Chief of Lao Dong Publishing House, thanked the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Trade Union Project Management Board for coordinating with Lao Dong Publishing House to deploy a reading space in a short time.

Comrade Mai Thi Thanh Hang said that building a free reading space is not simply bringing books to a new location, but more importantly, creating an environment for workers to read, study, relax and access useful knowledge sources right where they live.

Bustling reading corner of workers

Right on the launch day, the Reading Space received the attention of a large number of workers, laborers and young people living in the area. The atmosphere at the reading area became bustling as many people took the time to learn about books, choosing books that suit their interests and needs.

Not only workers directly looking to read books, many parents also bring their children to experience. Young children quickly come to the children's book area, attentively choosing their favorite books, creating a close and lively reading atmosphere.

From early morning, Mr. Ngo Tien Trung - Employee of Hong Ha Animal Feed Production Company, living in room 212 N19 Trade Union Facilities, took his son to visit and experience the Reading Space. After reading books with his son, he shared: "I find it very meaningful to open a reading space for workers. Not only young people but also parents and adults can come here to read books, live and develop reading habits. This is also a healthy playground, helping people have more choices in their free time instead of spending too much time on their phones. I hope this space will be maintained for a long time and more and more people will come to read books.

Shares from workers also show that the need for cultural, learning and community living spaces right in their homes is practical. With the specific nature of work, the time of workers and laborers is often spent on work and family. Therefore, a free reading space, near the place of residence, can become a convenient choice for everyone to take advantage of free time to access books and knowledge.

Giving books, giving more opportunities to access knowledge

Also at the program, Lao Dong Publishing House presented 10 gifts to children of workers, contributing to creating more joy for families and encouraging young children to form love for books from an early age.

The free reading space at Dong Van II Industrial Park is expected to become a familiar cultural activity spot for workers and families. Bringing books closer to workers is also a practical way to spread reading culture from living spaces, so that books are not only present in libraries or schools but become a close part of each family's activities.

Each reading space opened is also another opportunity for knowledge to be shared. Through the program, Lao Dong Publishing House wishes to continue to accompany Trade Union organizations in building practical cultural activities, bringing books closer to union members, workers, and laborers; thereby contributing to building a healthy living environment, encouraging the spirit of lifelong learning and improving the cultural and spiritual life of workers.
