Chairman of Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Anh Tuan: Do not let workers' petitions be left open

Speaking at the meeting and dialogue between the National Assembly Delegation, the Chairman of the City People's Committee and trade union members and workers in Da Nang on the morning of May 9, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Member of the Party Central Committee, National Assembly Delegate, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) emphasized: "Do not let workers' petitions be left open".

According to Mr. Tuan, the meeting and dialogue is not only an activity during Workers' Month, but also an important forum for the National Assembly Delegation, city leaders and Trade Union organizations to directly listen to the thoughts, aspirations, and recommendations of union members and workers.

Each recommendation of workers is a voice from practice, which needs to be listened to, answered promptly and transformed into practical solutions for workers, not letting legitimate recommendations of workers be left open.

Da Nang city after merging with Quang Nam currently has more than 220,000 union members in 1,776 grassroots trade unions in the area.

The opinions from workers in the hall are practical voices, most clearly reflecting the lives, jobs and pressures that workers are facing. Therefore, listening must go hand in hand with the responsibility of answering, removing and monitoring to the end the issues raised" - Mr. Tuan stated his opinion.

In his role as Chairman of the VGCL, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan affirmed that the Trade Union organization always identifies the central task as representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers. Issues such as salaries, insurance, housing, working environment, social security or vocational training not only directly affect the lives of each worker, but also affect the stability of labor relations and the sustainable development of businesses and localities.

The President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour requested trade union levels to continue to stick to grassroots levels, firmly grasp the situation of union members and workers, especially in industrial parks, boarding houses, and labor-intensive enterprises. Trade unions must not only record recommendations, but also proactively advise and coordinate with authorities, departments, and businesses to have specific and practical solutions.

In his position as a National Assembly deputy, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan said that each opinion of workers and laborers is an important source of information for elected representatives to reflect to the National Assembly, the Government and competent agencies. From the reality of workers' lives, many policy issues can be viewed more fully, especially in the fields of labor, employment, wages, social insurance, social housing and social security. This is also the responsibility of National Assembly deputies before voters and workers, and at the same time the responsibility of the Trade Union organization in accompanying union members and workers.

I propose that the city's functional sectors need to answer the questions of union members and workers in the right direction, without being roundabout or evasive. The voice of workers needs to be transformed into policy recommendations, into specific solutions to remove difficulties" - Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan emphasized.

The spirit emphasized at the conference was that the questions and recommendations of union members and workers must be answered concisely, clearly focusing on the issue, and correctly. For contents beyond authority or requiring additional time for research, functional agencies must have specific commitments and roadmaps for resolution, so as not to leave workers' recommendations open.
