Thanh Hoa - Commemorating the 80th anniversary of its establishment, Thanh Hoa Trade Union affirms its role as a representative, caring for and protecting workers and is determined to innovate its operations.
On October 10th, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation (LĐLĐ) organized a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Thanh Hoa Trade Union (October 10, 1946 - October 10, 2026) and commend typical collectives and individuals.
From 2,050 to over 300,000 union members
On October 10, 1946, the Thanh Hoa Trade Union was officially established, marking an important step in the development of the workers' movement and trade union activities in the province.
Over 80 years of construction and development, from initial 2,050 union members, Thanh Hoa Trade Union now has more than 300,000 union members, increasingly affirming its role as a representative, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers.
A special milestone in the history of Thanh Hoa Trade Union is July 19, 1960, when President Ho Chi Minh attended the 6th Provincial Trade Union Congress. His advice on emulation in labor production according to the motto "Fast, lots, good, cheap" still has practical significance in improving productivity, quality and labor efficiency.

Speaking at the ceremony, leaders of Thanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation said that in the peak emulation period to celebrate the 80th anniversary of its establishment, the Provincial Trade Union achieved 3 breakthrough results.
Notably, 21,140 union members were added, 59 grassroots trade unions were established, bringing the total number to 1,001 grassroots trade unions. At the same time, 14 Party cells were established in enterprises, with trade union officials holding the positions of secretary or deputy secretary.
The movement to improve skills was promoted through the "Talented Workers of Thanh Hoa" Contest, attracting the participation of workers in thousands of production teams and lines of 123 enterprises, thereby selecting 27 teams to participate in the provincial-level final round.
In the field of digital transformation, Thanh Hoa Trade Union launched the UMOS management and operation system, put into operation an online meeting room at the Provincial Labor Federation, connected with 10 grassroots trade unions at foreign-invested enterprises with many workers.
The above results show efforts to innovate trade union activities in the direction of being close to grassroots levels, close to workers, linking emulation movements with improving productivity, quality and production efficiency.
Measuring satisfaction
Speaking to direct at the anniversary ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - acknowledged and highly appreciated the contributions of Thanh Hoa Trade Union during 80 years of construction and development.

According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, the outstanding value of Thanh Hoa Trade Union is not only reflected in the numbers and achievements but also in the fact that the trade union organization is always a reliable support, accompanying workers, especially in difficult times.
Faced with new development requirements, the Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor proposed that Thanh Hoa Trade Union strongly shift its thinking from "caring for when there is a movement" to "regular care"; from "resolving when there is an incident" to "preventing early and remotely".
Trade union levels need to improve the effectiveness of representing and protecting the rights of workers, especially practical issues such as salaries, jobs, housing, meals, labor safety and health care.

In addition, trade union organizations need to proactively participate in retraining and improving vocational skills, helping workers adapt to automation, digital transformation and green transformation, towards sustainable and quality employment.
In particular, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan emphasized the requirement to innovate operating methods, taking the satisfaction of workers and practical contributions to units and localities as a measure to evaluate the effectiveness of trade union activities.
Also at the ceremony, Mr. Trinh Tuan Sinh - Deputy Secretary of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee - requested trade union levels to continue to stick to the grassroots level, firmly grasp the lives, jobs, thoughts, and aspirations of workers; improve the quality of collective dialogue and negotiation and promptly resolve issues arising in labor relations.

At the same time, focus on developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions in Nghi Son Economic Zone, industrial parks and non-state enterprises; promote the digitization of union member data, apply technology in receiving and resolving workers' petitions.
In the context of streamlined organizational structure, trade union activities need to strongly shift from caring for immediate benefits to building sustainable welfare programs, effectively mobilizing resources from businesses and society.
On this occasion, leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Hoa province presented meaningful gifts to the Provincial Labor Federation.
At the anniversary ceremony, representatives of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Department of Home Affairs announced the President's decision on awarding the Third-class Labor Medal to Mr. Luong Trong Thanh - Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tuan - Deputy Head of the Trade Union Affairs Committee, Thanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation.
