From a poor province, Quang Nam strives to export billions of dong
After 50 years of liberation, Quang Nam has made a spectacular breakthrough, becoming one of the strongly developed economic centers of the Central region.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Quang Nam province (March 24, 1975 - March 24, 2025) and the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the Provincial Party Committee (March 28, 1930 - March 28, 2025), Quang Nam will organize an exhibition of socio-economic achievements, national defense and security.
The event takes place from March 21 to March 25, 2025, at the Quang Nam Provincial Cultural Center (Tam Ky City).
This event is even more meaningful when Quang Nam has just officially reached the scale of an economy of more than 147 trillion VND, 50 times higher than the time of re-establishment of the province (in 1997).
Mr. Phan Thai Binh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province emphasized that after many years of efforts, Quang Nam has not only been autonomous in the budget but also made significant contributions to the Central Government. The average GRDP growth rate is 8.7%/year, the economic structure has shifted positively with industry - construction and services accounting for 68.3%. Notably, GRDP per capita reached 95 million VND, an increase of 52 times compared to 1997; exports reached 2.1 billion USD, 140 times; the whole province attracted more than 207 FDI projects with a total capital of 6.3 billion USD.
Infrastructure is also a bright spot with Chu Lai Open Economic Zone, seaport and airport systems, and a wide network of industrial parks and clusters. In particular, the OCOP program has helped Quang Nam's typical products reach further, creating a breakthrough in rural economic development.
This exhibition has a scale of 72 rooms, recreating the remarkable development journey of Quang Nam, with the highlight being the image of the two world heritages Hoi An, My Son and the monument of Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Thu - the sacred symbol of the brave and resilient land.
From a locality dependent on the central budget, Quang Nam has now risen strongly, affirming its position as the leading developing province in the Central region for industry, services - tourism.
