Grassroots trade unions in Da Nang practically care for and create a stable foundation for workers

On April 9, the Da Nang City Labor Federation organized a quarterly meeting for the first quarter of 2026 with 31 grassroots trade unions directly under the City Labor Federation.

Mr. Le Van Dai - Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City Labor Federation said: One of the highlights in the first quarter is that grassroots trade unions directly under the City Labor Federation proactively grasped the situation of salaries, bonuses, and labor relations before, during and after Tet.

Not stopping at supervision, the trade union organization has directly participated in legal support for hundreds of workers related to salary disputes and severance allowances, especially at businesses such as Hoa Khanh Textile or Minh Hoang 2.

Tet care work is also being implemented by trade union levels on a large scale, with a total budget of nearly 40 billion VND. Programs such as "Trade Union Tet Market", "Trade Union Bus", "Tet not far from home", "Trade Union Year-end Meal" or supporting worker groups in boarding houses... have created a diverse care ecosystem, covering many groups of workers.

In addition, social activities such as voluntary blood donation, support for people in difficult areas, preferential loans... also contribute to expanding the role of trade unions beyond the scope of factories and industrial parks.

Workers' Month focus

Stepping into the second quarter, the focus of activities of the Da Nang City Labor Federation and affiliated grassroots trade unions is the series of activities of Workers' Month and Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2026.

A series of activities are planned by the Da Nang City Labor Federation and grassroots trade unions with scale and depth, from launching ceremonies, workers' sports festivals, workers' markets, to free health check-up programs, job counseling, skills competitions, and technical innovation initiatives.

In particular, grassroots trade unions will give 1,000 gifts to workers in difficult circumstances, workers who have accidents, occupational diseases, pregnant female workers, raising young children... showing the right priority for the right people, the right needs.

A noteworthy new point is the launch of a short video contest on digital platforms. This is a modern approach, helping trade unions get closer to young workers, while spreading good models quickly and widely.

In addition, the "May Dialogue" program and the forum to contribute opinions on building the new Vietnam Trade Union also open up space for workers to directly express their voices, thereby enhancing the substantive representativeness of the trade union organization.

However, according to Mr. Le Van Dai, besides the achieved results, the activities of 31 grassroots trade unions directly under the Da Nang City Labor Federation in the first quarter of 2026 also have limitations such as incomplete reporting, slow congress organization at some grassroots levels, or the connection between trade union levels is not really effective after the process of arranging the apparatus.

These limitations, if not overcome in time, will affect the effectiveness of implementing major programs in the coming time," Mr. Dai said.

It can be seen that the first quarter of 2026 has laid a fairly solid foundation for the trade union activities of Da Nang city. But more importantly, from that foundation, trade union levels need to continue to innovate their working methods, increase connectivity and be more proactive in grasping the actual needs of workers.

Only when workers truly feel the companionship, will the trade union not only be a representative organization, but become a solid support in their lives and work.
