Ho Chi Minh City launches patriotic emulation movement in 2026

On April 9, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee organized a conference to summarize the patriotic emulation movement and commendation work in 2025; summarize the specialized emulation movements and launch the patriotic emulation movement in 2026.

Attending the Conference were Mr. Le Quoc Phong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Mr. Cao Huy - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs; Mr. Phan Van Hung - Deputy Head of the Central Emulation and Commendation Committee (under the Ministry of Home Affairs).

At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - affirmed that this is an opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City to look back, commend and honor typical collectives and individuals who have contributed to the successful implementation of national defense - security, socio-economic tasks, Party and government building.

Quoting President Ho Chi Minh's teaching: "Emulation is patriotism, patriotism is emulation, and those who emulate are the most patriotic people", Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong emphasized that this is a guiding principle to nurture the dynamic and creative tradition of the city.

2025 is identified as the year of "speed, acceleration, breakthrough", the last year of implementing the 5-year socio-economic development plan. In particular, this is also the period when Ho Chi Minh City focuses on arranging the apparatus, forming a 2-level local government and organizing Party Congresses at all levels towards the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress and the 14th Party Congress.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong said that although in the post-merger context with a higher workload and requirements, emulation movements are still strongly promoted with many positive models and solutions, spreading widely and mobilizing a large number of people from all walks of life to respond and participate. On behalf of the city leaders, he praised the outstanding achievements of all levels and sectors, along with the efforts of cadres, party members, armed forces soldiers and the business community in the past year.

Stepping into 2026, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Cuong emphasized the goal of striving to achieve double-digit economic growth. This is not only an economic goal but also a political task to affirm the leading role of the city for the whole country and strive to reach out in the region.

To achieve this goal, Ho Chi Minh City leaders require the emulation movement in the coming time to continue to innovate, organize substantively and synchronously. In particular, the city determines to take the level of satisfaction of people and businesses and the results of caring for a prosperous life for the people as a measure in management and administration.

On this occasion, the conference commended and rewarded collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement in 2025 and specialized topics in Ho Chi Minh City, and officially launched the patriotic emulation movement in 2026.
