Wastewater treatment plant in Long Bien is about to be handed over and put into operation
Hanoi - The wastewater treatment plant in Long Bien with a capacity of 7,600 m3/day and night is about to be handed over and put into operation after many years of abandonment.
In 2014, after submitting for approval the planning and organizing a construction bidding, the Viet Hung Urban Area Wastewater Treatment Plant (Long Bien District, Hanoi) was started.
The wastewater treatment plant is a project under the Ngo Gia Tu Street renovation and renovation project and investment in infrastructure construction of Viet Hung Urban Area invested by the Housing and Urban Development Investment Corporation (HUD).


In terms of scale, the Wastewater Treatment Station has a capacity of 7,600 m3/day and night, applying AO treatment technology (Anoxic - Oxic), after treatment, the wastewater is discharged into the Viet Hung ditch, then flowing into the Cau Bai River.
The project was completed in 2017, but has not yet been handed over to the management unit. Meanwhile, domestic wastewater of more than 20,000 people living in Viet Hung Urban Area still flows directly into Viet Hung ditch every day, causing environmental pollution.




According to the Hanoi Department of Construction, the Viet Hung Urban Area Wastewater Treatment Plant has been put into trial operation since January 2017 and continues to complete the procedures for project acceptance, installing an additional automatic monitoring system in the project to meet current regulations, and carrying out the handover work after investment.
The management and operation of the Viet Hung Urban Area Wastewater Treatment Plant before handover will be carried out by the investor - HUD.
By May 2022, based on the request of HUD, the Department of Construction had organized a review and received the handover of Viet Hung Wastewater Treatment Plant.
In the process of completing the procedures for receiving and handing over to organize the selection of operating management contractors, according to the commitment to the city, HUD continues to operate and maintain the wastewater treatment station with the unit's funding source and overcome existence during the counting process, including: Automatic monitoring machine system and equipment and chemicals of the laboratory, failed, inactive; steel station houses, some constructions of paint peeling; The overgrown weeds invaded the grass area; Expired discharge permit in January 2023.



Up to now, the Department of Construction has completed the selection of contractors to receive the official management and operation of Viet Hung Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The degraded items inside the Wastewater Treatment Plant are currently being renovated and repaired by HUD to ensure requirements. It is expected that the unit will officially hand over to the Hanoi Department of Construction, the contractor for management and operation in April 2025.
