On March 27, Long An Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Quyet chaired the first meeting of the Steering Committee for the arrangement and reorganization of district and commune-level administrative units and the development of a model of organizing local government at 2 levels in the province.

At the conference, delegates contributed opinions and discussed important issues in the process of reorganizing administrative units, including: Determining boundaries between new units, selecting administrative centers, naming commune and ward-level administrative units after the reorganization and especially organizing the collection of voters' opinions to ensure the promotion of democratic rights and creating a solid basis for related decisions.

Speaking at the conference, Long An Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Quyet welcomed and highly appreciated the preparation of the Provincial Party Committee's Organizing Committee, the Department of Home Affairs and localities in developing a plan to reorganize and reorganize commune-level administrative units.
