The 79, Fate of the rain and the sea (December 19, 1946 - December 19, 2025) A big lesson from Uncle Ho's National Appeal to Resistance
79 years have passed since President Ho Chi Minh issued the "Appeal to the National Resistance War" (December 19, 1946 - December 19, 2025). The heroic sounds of that immortal call will forever remain with the nation.
The word "river"
The August Revolution of 1945 was successful, the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam marked a great turning point in the history of the Vietnamese people. From here, the revolutionary government has been in the hands of the people; the working people have become masters of national fate. However, the young government is facing countless difficulties and hatreds from within and outside, and at the same time has to face three types of fighters: Hunger fighters, low-level fighters and foreign fighters.
With the ambition to rob our country again, on September 23, 1945, with the help of the British army, the French colonialists opened fire in Saigon, starting the second war of invasion of Indochina, then expanded to occupy the South and South Central regions, tried to send troops to the North, conquered many provinces and cities, causing many conflicts and provocations in Hanoi.
In that situation, the Party Central Committee and President Ho Chi Minh sought flexible measures to maintain peace, maintain national independence and national unity. The person who signed the Preliminary Agreement with the representative of the French government on March 6, 1946. However, immediately after that, the French colonialists continued to cause aggression in the South with armed conflicts, establishing an autonomous South Korean government, and plotting to separate the South from Vietnam. In fact, the more we transfer, the more the French colonialists come. Despite Vietnam's peaceful efforts, on December 15 and 16, 1946 the French army opened fire and launched an attack in many places in Hanoi.
On December 18 and 19, 1946 in Van Phuc, Ha Dong (now under Hanoi City), the Central Party Standing Committee held an expanded meeting chaired by President Ho Chi Minh, setting out guidelines and decisions for the whole country to enter the resistance war against French colonialism. On the afternoon of December 19, 4, Minister of National Defense Vo Nguyen Giap decided to transfer to armed forces units the order of the date and time of the national battle. At 8:00 p.m. on December 19, 1946 the signal of the beginning of the national resistance war was issued, and the army and people of Hanoi capital opened fire to kick off the national resistance war.
On December 20, 1946 President Ho Chi Minh's appeal to the entire nation to fight the resistance (written on December 19, 1946) was broadcast nationwide:
We want peace, we have to make allowances. But the more we give in, the more the French colonialists come in, because they are determined to rob our country once again!
No! We would rather sacrifice everything, but certainly not lose our country, certainly not be enslaved.
Dear compatriots!
We have to stand up!...
arousing the strength of national unity
Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc - Deputy Head of the Advisory Council on Culture and Society under the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front - analyzed that research documents and historical events have shown that, after a short time, all activities of the country have shifted to the context of the war and serve the long-term resistance war. The heroic and creative fight of the army and people of Hanoi and the whole country in the first days of the National Resistance War has dealt a heavy blow to the strategy of "quick defeat, quick victory" and the will to invade the enemy, as a solid foundation for the next victories of the resistance war. Responding to the National Appeal to Resistance, our whole nation has united and fought against the invading French colonialists, stepped up the all-people, comprehensive, long-term resistance and relied on our own strength; both fighting and fighting for national security, winning glorious victories.
The call for the entire resistance war of President Ho Chi Minh in 1946 is a petition to save the country, demonstrating the iron determination of the entire nation, arousing the strength of patriotism, the indomitable heroic tradition; motivating, urging, and cheering the entire Party, people, and army to enter the resistance war to regain independence and freedom for the Fatherland - Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc said and said that this is a consistent lesson in arousing the strength of great national unity to fight and defeat all friends and difficulties to achieve success.
The draft Political Report submitted to the 14th National Party Congress clearly stated the requirement: "Strongly arousing the tradition of patriotism, development aspiration, solidarity, the will to be self-reliant, confident, self-reliant, self-reliant, and national pride; promoting cultural and human resources into endogenous resources and strong driving forces for development".
The 79th Anniversary of the National Resistance War is an opportunity for us to review and promote revolutionary heroism, arouse national pride and self-respect, and determination to overcome difficulties and challenges to successfully carry out the cause of national renewal for the goal: "rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness, civilization"; build Vietnam into a developed country with high income in the direction of socialism...
