IELTS Score Conversion Table for Universities in 2025

Currently, many schools have announced their enrollment plans for 2025. Many schools allow candidates to convert IELTS scores, combined with many other factors for admission.

Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, Hanoi Capital University, Saigon University accept candidates with IELTS from 4.0. However, the conversion rate varies between schools.

Most remaining schools accept certificates of 5.0 or higher. In particular, many schools give candidates 10 English points with IELTS 6.5, such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi Open University, University of Electricity, University of Mining and Geology, Academy of Finance, Vietnam Women's Academy.

The National Economics University also allows candidates to convert IELTS scores, from 5.5. Candidates with IELTS 7.5 will be converted to 10 points.

The Banking Academy and CMC University have the highest requirements. Candidates with IELTS 8.0 are only counted as 10 points.

According to the 2025 university admission regulations issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, schools are allowed to convert foreign language certificates into this subject score to include in the admission combination, but the weight does not exceed 50%. Thus, with a combination of three subjects and a scale of 30, foreign language scores after conversion or multiplying coefficients are accounted for a maximum of 15 points.

In addition, the Ministry of Education and Training also stipulates that additional incentives and reward points for candidates with foreign language certificates must not exceed 10% of the maximum of the consideration scale, for example, the maximum of 3 points on the 30 scale. At the same time, schools must ensure that no candidate has an admission score (including plus points and priority points for areas and subjects) exceeding the maximum.

This means that if the candidate has achieved 30 points according to the admission combination, having a foreign language certificate is almost meaningless.
