40,000 union members will be developed in 8 wards in Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City - The Trade Union of 8 wards is implementing a plan to develop 40,000 union members in 2026.
On April 24, in Thuan Giao ward (HCMC), Working Group No. 4 of the HCMC Labor Federation had a working session with 8 Party committees and local authorities on trade union activities.
At the working session, leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation listened to the sharing of ward trade unions and Party committees and authorities of 8 localities (Thuan Giao, Thuan An, Tan Dong Hiep, Lai Thieu, Dong Hoa, Di An, Binh Hoa, An Phu).
Localities exchanged issues related to personnel work, operating expenses of ward trade unions; coordination and organization of activities between ward trade unions and grassroots trade unions and upper-level trade unions.
Notably, at the conference, representatives of localities exchanged and proposed many issues related to the development of trade union members. Ward trade unions said that they will quickly carry out labor review work in the area, coordinate with agencies to propagate and mobilize workers. At the same time, work with businesses to establish grassroots trade unions, develop union members, and strive to complete assigned tasks.
At the conference, leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation exchanged and answered questions and removed difficulties to create favorable conditions for ward trade unions to operate.
According to the Area Management Working Group No. 4 of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation, in recent months, 8 ward trade union units have established 35 grassroots trade unions, admitting nearly 1,000 union members.
In 2026, 8 ward trade union units set a target to develop 40,000 new union members, including 400 trade union members. Strive for 100% of enterprises with 25 or more employees to establish grassroots trade union organizations, each ward trade union establishes 1 grassroots trade union.
Caring for nearly 12,000 union members
Working Group No. 4 of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation said that in the first quarter of 2026, the unit has proactively coordinated with ward trade unions to synchronously implement Tet care activities for union members and workers in communes and wards in the managed area.
Specifically, 443 "Trade Union Tet Market" shopping vouchers and 441 online shopping vouchers were distributed; supported 236 bus tickets home for Tet, 32 train tickets, 35 air tickets. Notably, Area Management Task Force No. 4 presented 10,548 Tet gifts (each worth 1 million VND from the financial source of the City Labor Federation) to support union members in difficult circumstances in the area.
