Ca Mau continues to take DNA samples of nearly 200 remains of unidentified martyrs
Ca Mau Provincial Martyrs' Cemetery currently has nearly 200 graves that have not been identified, and biological samples are being taken for DNA testing.
On September 24, Steering Committee 515 of Ca Mau province coordinated with local authorities to organize a ceremony to pay respects, offer flowers, and offer incense to commemorate heroic martyrs at Ca Mau Provincial Martyrs' Cemetery in Hoa Binh commune.
The cemetery is currently the resting place of nearly 4,000 martyrs, of which nearly 200 graves have not been identified. This is the 10th cemetery in the province to be implemented for biological sample collection in the "500-day and night campaign to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains".

Despite the heavy rain, the forces still coordinated to carry out excavation, biological sample collection and data digitization. The collected samples were encoded and preserved before being handed over to the DNA testing center under the Institute of Criminal Science, Ministry of Public Security.

According to the Steering Committee 515 of Ca Mau province, the whole province currently has 11 martyrs' cemeteries with more than 3,380 graves that have not been identified.
As of September 24, units have exhumed more than 2,800 graves, collected more than 2,100 biological samples of martyrs' remains to serve DNA testing.

Colonel Le Quang Luat, Deputy Political Commissar of the Ca Mau Provincial Military Command, said that taking biological samples to serve the identification of martyrs shows the responsibility of the Party Committee, government, armed forces and people of Ca Mau province in finding the identities and bringing the martyrs back to their families and homeland.
