On October 4th, VNPT Trade Union organized a seminar "Happiness from ordinary things - Stories of VNPT People".

At the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Nam - Rector of the University of Education (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), shared about the PERMA model with 5 factors that create happiness including positive emotions, connection, relationships, meaning and achievements.

According to Mr. Nam, in the working environment, employees need to feel that they belong to the organization, are listened to and have the opportunity to contribute. Positive relationships between colleagues and leaders also create a sense of security, especially in times when employees encounter difficulties or make mistakes.

Happiness does not come naturally but is a skill to learn every day. Happiness is sometimes very simple, a feeling of belonging to a collective, the understanding of colleagues or joy from small things. The way we receive and perceive determines our emotions" - Mr. Nam shared.

From another perspective, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Ngoc Van - Chairman of the Advisory Council for the VNPT Human Happiness Index survey plan believes that happiness also comes from "knowing enough". When reducing unnecessary pressures and desires, each person can feel lighter and appreciate what they have.

Sharing at the seminar, Mr. To Dung Thai - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Member Council of VNPT Group said that the joy of the leader is associated with the results of work and life of the collective.

After the first 3 quarters of 2026, VNPT's production and business indicators exceeded the plan by about 3-4%. For Mr. Thai, this is a welcome sign, especially when right from the beginning of the year, the production and business plan and requirements set for officials and employees are assessed as very challenging.

According to the Chairman of the Member Council of VNPT Group, the results achieved are not only the achievements of the leadership but also the common joy of tens of thousands of officials, employees and collaborators.

From the perspective of the trade union organization, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Chairman of VNPT Trade Union (under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology) - believes that the story of happiness of workers needs to be seen from their daily experiences.

In addition to income and working conditions, workers are also interested in recognition, development opportunities, relationships with colleagues and the balance between work and life.

There are times when workers do not need anything too big, but just need to be listened to, shared and know that their efforts are recognized by the organization" - Mr. Tuan shared.

According to the Chairman of VNPT Trade Union, the Trade Union organization needs to continue to create channels for workers to express their thoughts and aspirations. From specific stories, the trade union has more basis to advise and propose solutions suitable to reality.

At the seminar, the story of a VNPT worker who participated in technology projects serving COVID-19 prevention and control also received attention.

The new job, high requirements, and tight time meant that there were periods when he had to work continuously and could not often go home. When he received the assignment, the first thing he did was to call his wife to share about the work, helping his family understand and feel secure. In the process of performing the assignment, besides the encouragement of the leaders, the support from colleagues became a fulcrum for him to overcome pressure. When encountering problems, being able to call colleagues to discuss and find ways to solve them helped him feel not alone...

The seminar took place in the context of VNPT Trade Union implementing the survey "VNPT Employee Happiness Index" in 2026 to assess the level of satisfaction, happiness and factors affecting work, life, and relationships of employees.

The survey results are expected to be the basis for the Trade Union to identify issues of concern to workers, thereby proposing appropriate solutions, contributing to building a positive working environment and increasing the attachment of workers to the unit.
