The 2nd Vietnam Trade Union Congress
The 2nd Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union met from February 23 to 27, 2021, at the Hanoi Business School (near Cau Dien, 5 km from the center of Hanoi, on the way to Son Tay town). The total number of delegates attending the Congress is 752 people, including 6,500 union members and 86 permanent delegates.
The congress was honored to welcome President Ho Chi Minh to attend and express his opinions. The Congress decided to take the letter of the Party Central Committee and Ho Chi Minh's Urban Planning as a guideline for the direction and tasks of the Vietnam Trade Union.
The Congress set a goal: "Encourage cadres, workers, and civil servants to compete in labor, production, and construction of social housing in the North with the spirit of: "Everyone works as two for the common good of the South", contributing to the fight for national unity.
The 2nd Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor affirmed: "The industrialization of the Socialist Republic has great decisive significance for the successful development of our country's revolution, while ensuring the enhancement of the leadership role of the working class, the pioneering Party and promoting the positive role of the Trade Union in all aspects of socio-economic activities".
The Congress pointed out the common task: "Solidarity, organization, education of all workers and civil servants, promoting the spirit of revolution, the spirit of mastery and the creativity of the masses to quickly grasp advanced techniques, to successfully complete the cause of industrialization of the socialist economy, first of all, compete to comprehensively complete and exceed the first 5-year plan, bringing the North to move forward quickly, move forward strongly, and move forward firmly to socialism, as a solid foundation for the struggle to achieve peace and national reunification".
The Congress raised the thesis that the Trade Union is a school of socialism and communism of the working class. Continuously raising social awareness, improving the cultural, technical and professional qualifications of workers and civil servants is the function and task of the Trade Union.
The 2nd Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor decided to change the name of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. At the same time, it was agreed to approve the Charter of the Vietnam Trade Union, consisting of 10 chapters and 45 articles, which specifically stipulates the tasks, rights of union members, organizational principles, powers and tasks of trade unions at all levels. The Congress elected a new Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, consisting of 54 official members and 11 alternate members. The Presidium consists of 19 people: Hoang Quoc Viet, Tran Danh Tuyen, Nguyen Cong Hoa, Bui Quy, Nguyen Van Diep, Nguyen Ho, Ha Van Tinh, Truong Thi My, Trinh Cong Song, Nguyen Duc Tinh, Tran Dai Ly, Ho Sy Ngoi, Le Van Co, Wei Nhu Kon - Tum, Tran Anh Lien, Nguyen Khai (Nguyen Mau), Tran Bao, Nguyen Van Hieu and Nguyen Minh. Comrade Hoang Quoc Viet, member of the Party Central Committee re-elected as President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Secretariat consists of 9 people: Bui The Duong, Nguyen Minh, Nguyen Dang, Tran Danh Tuyen, Bui Qui, Nguyen Van Diep, Nguyen Ho and Ha Van Tinh. Comrade Tran Danh Tuyen was elected Vice Chairman and General Secretary.
