Party member Nguyen Huu Phuoc: Initiative to optimize engine repair, bringing in a profit of nearly 72 billion VND

In 2024, when the global supply chain encountered many difficulties, directly affecting the operations of the airline, the Technical Department in general and Mr. Nguyen Huu Phuoc in particular had to face significant challenges. Ensuring the performance and reliability of the flight crews has become a reality.

The fleet resources of the Corporation (TCT) were seriously affected by a number of quality problems from the Pratt & Whitney engine manufacturer using the Airbus A321NEO aircraft, leading to many aircraft having to temporarily suspend operations while the engines were recalled by the manufacturer for inspection and equipment replacement.

Faced with the impact of TCT's fleet resources, with a high sense of responsibility, it urged Party member Nguyen Huu Phuoc and his colleagues in the Technical Department to think about breakthrough solutions to minimize the impact on exploitation, speed up the repair process while still ensuring absolute safety for engines.

The team of engineers has conducted in-depth research and coordinated with the engine manufacturer to create an initiative to optimize the content of inspection and repair when the engine is recalled, completely shortening the repair time. Thereby contributing to ensuring exploitation resources with units in the TCT.

After many months of tireless research and testing, the solution "optimizing repair content for the A321NEO fighter jet engine" has been completed and applied in practice. The application of the initiative helps reduce engine repair time, contributing to increasing the number of aircraft used by TCT.

This solution also helps reallocate the number of stopping ships to reduce the maximum number of AOG at a time, especially during the peak period of exploitation, increasing revenue and business efficiency for TCT. The effectiveness of the initiative is assessed based on the actual number of times the engine has been sent for quickturn repairs in 2024.

The results show that the solution has helped save a total of 669 days for engine repair. It is worth mentioning that shortening repair time not only helps increase the number of engines ready to operate but also brings huge economic value to the Corporation. According to estimates, this initiative has generated a profit of about 2,883,390 USD (equivalent to 72 billion VND), based on the cost of renting spare engines to serve the exploitation.

He has turned difficulties and challenges into opportunities to contribute, bringing practical value to TCT and the Vietnam Airlines industry.

When not only completing his professional work well, Mr. Phuoc is also an exemplary Party member in the movement activities of the Party cell and Party Committee. He often shares with young colleagues about the positive values that the Party brings, encouraging them to participate in movement activities to practice and demonstrate their abilities.
