Accelerate progress, not trade safety at social housing construction sites
Vinh Long - Despite accelerating the construction of social housing for Giao Long Commune Trade Union, units still put labor safety first, ensuring progress and workers' health.
Workers raise awareness and safety for themselves and the collective
Before the request to accelerate the progress of the Trade Union social housing project in Giao Long commune, construction units have organized reasonable overtime, in parallel with tightening measures to ensure labor safety and hygiene at the construction site.
Worker Tran Van Phuoc said that right from the time he started working at the construction site, he was fully informed of the regulations on labor safety as well as issued protective equipment in accordance with the unit's regulations.
According to Mr. Phuoc, strictly complying with safety regulations not only helps protect yourself but also contributes to ensuring general safety for colleagues and the entire construction site throughout the construction process.
Every day before going to work, I carefully check my helmet, gloves, straps and necessary equipment to ensure safety," Mr. Phuoc shared, and also said that personal awareness is very important.
Sharing the same view, worker Le Thanh Tan said that complying with safety procedures has become a habit in daily work, especially in the context of overtime construction to ensure the set progress.
According to Mr. Tan, each worker is aware that just a small mistake can affect many others, so consciously complying with regulations is mandatory throughout the working process.
Safety for myself is also safety for colleagues and the construction site," Mr. Tan said, adding that being reminded regularly helps workers maintain awareness and minimize risks.
Tighten management, ensure safety in parallel with progress
Mr. Ha Manh Cuong - Head of the Construction Site Management Board said that the Trade Union social housing project started in September 2025, and so far the construction volume has reached about 23% of the total progress.
Currently, the construction site maintains about 125 workers working regularly. According to Mr. Cuong, from the investor's request, the unit has proactively adjusted the construction plan and arranged reasonable personnel to accelerate the project progress.
However, according to Mr. Cuong, although construction is accelerated, ensuring occupational safety and health is always put first, and safety at the construction site is not underestimated due to progress.
The unit regularly organizes information sessions, reminding workers about labor safety regulations, and maintains visual propaganda slogans at the construction site," Mr. Cuong added.
Mr. Le Van Nghia - Member of the Presidium of the General Confederation of Labour, Head of the Trade Union Project Management Board said that the investor and the construction unit always closely coordinate in the project implementation process.
According to Mr. Nghia, labor safety assurance is carried out daily, from equipping helmets and safety belts to checking and supervising the compliance of workers at the construction site.
The investor implements supervision in accordance with the provisions of the Construction Law, and every week there is an inspection team to check the progress, construction quality and labor safety," Mr. Nghia added.
With the synchronous implementation of solutions, the Trade Union social housing project in Giao Long is being accelerated, expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2027, about 90 days earlier than the initial plan.
