Reader thuvanxxxxx@gmail. com asks: In which cases do pedagogical students not have to compensate for tuition fee and living expenses?

Legal Consulting Department of Lao Dong Newspaper answers:

Clause 2, Article 6 of Decree 116/2020/ND-CP stipulates policies on supporting tuition fees and living expenses for pedagogical students, stipulating subjects who are not required to reimburse tuition fees and living expenses including:

a) Within 2 years from the date of the graduation recognition decision, pedagogical students work in the education sector and have a minimum working time at least twice the training time calculated from the date of recruitment;

b) Pedagogical students after graduation who are working in the education sector, but do not have enough time as prescribed in point a, clause 2 of this Article and are transferred by competent state agencies to work outside the education sector;

c) Pedagogical students after graduation continue to be ordered by agencies, assigned tasks or sent to train higher-level teachers and continue to work in the education sector for a sufficient period specified in point a, clause 2 of this Article.

Clause 5, Article 1, Decree 60/2025/ND-CP stipulates the amendment and supplementation of point c, clause 2, Article 6, Decree 116/2020/ND-CP as follows:

c) Pedagogical students after graduation if they are accepted to work in the education sector and continue to be sent by the recruiting agency to train teachers with higher qualifications and continue to work in the education sector for a period sufficient to be specified in point a, clause 2, Article 6, Decree 116/2020/ND-CP.

Thus, pedagogical students in the above cases do not have to compensate for tuition fee support and living expenses.
