Posting child privacy information online can be fined 30 million VND

According to Clause 1, Article 32 of Decree No. 98/2026/ND-CP, Regulations on sanctioning administrative violations in the field of social protection, social assistance and children, effective from May 16, 2026:

Article 32 of the Decree: Violating regulations on prohibiting the disclosure and leakage of information about children's private lives and personal secrets:

1. A fine of between VND 20,000,000 and VND 30,000,000 shall be imposed for the act of disclosing or revealing one of the following information without the consent of parents, caregivers, guardians of children and children aged 7 years or older, including: name, age; personal identification characteristics; information about health status and personal life recorded in the medical record; personal photos; information about family members, caregivers; personal property; phone number; personal mail address; address, information about place of residence, hometown; address, information about school, class, academic results and children's friendships; information about services provided to individual children.

2. Remedial measures:

a) Being forced to apologize when requested for violations of the provisions of Clause 1 of this Article;

b) Forcing the recall, deletion, and removal of information about children's private lives and personal secrets for acts violating the provisions of Clause 1 of this Article.

Thus, from May 16, 2026, people who violate by posting photos, names, schools and family information of children on Facebook, TikTok as mentioned above will be fined from 20,000,000 VND to 30,000,000 VND.
