Vietnam confidently enters a new era of development
With the motto "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Breakthrough - Development", the 14th National Congress of the Party was a great success, marking a new milestone in the history of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the heroic history of the Vietnamese people, while opening a new era of national development.
From the turning point of innovation
40 years ago, December. 1986, the 6th National Congress of the Party took place in Hanoi with great historical significance, marking a turning point in the process of the country's rise to socialism. The 6th National Party Congress is called the Congress of initiating and leading the cause of national renewal. The Congress has found a way out of the prolonged serious socio-economic crisis, at the same time, laying a foundation for the Party to supplement and develop the socialist model and the path to socialism in Vietnam.
Thanks to the implementation of the renovation guidelines, the economy has begun to develop and grow continuously at a relatively high rate over the past 40 years with an average growth rate of nearly 7% per year. After 40 years of renovation, the scale of our country's economy has increased from 8 billion USD (in 1986) to 514 billion USD (2025) (about 64 times higher), ranking 32nd in the world; GDP per capita reached more than 5. 000 USD, putting Vietnam in the group of high-middle-income countries, is highly appreciated by many prestigious international organizations. The total import and export turnover of goods in Vietnam in 2025 is estimated to reach 920 billion USD, an increase of 16.9% over the previous year - the highest level ever. This figure puts Vietnam in the group of 15 largest trading countries globally.
The reform guidelines set by the 6th Congress are the crystallization of the intelligence and scientific thinking of the Party and the entire people, demonstrating the Party's determination and high sense of responsibility towards the country and the people. The innovative approach has quickly come into life, bringing a new vitality to society, turning the situation around, and moving the country forward.
Confidently entering a new era
After 40 years of renovation (from 1986 to present), the foundation, potential, position and international prestige of the country have been raised, which is an important foundation for the country to rise in the new era. The 14th National Congress of the Party is the beginning of a new era of national development.
The 14th National Party Congress has determined the successful implementation of the goal of becoming a developing country with modern industry and high average income by 2030; realizing the vision of becoming a developed country with high income by 2045, a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilized, and happy socialist Vietnam. Strive to achieve an average growth rate of gross domestic product (GDP) for the period 2026 - 2030 of 10%/year or more; GDP per capita by 2030 will reach about 8. 500 USD/year.
In his report on the documents submitted to the 14th Congress at the opening session, General Secretary To Lam affirmed: The 14th Congress is a Congress of faith and aspiration, of breakthroughs and action, of discipline and creativity, of solidarity and development.
"The 14th National Party Congress takes place when the "historic clock" is pointing out the decisive times before the 2030 mark - the moment our Party celebrates the 100th anniversary of its birth, fighting, growing and developing. We have never wished for a democratic, prosperous, civilized, and happy Vietnam like today; but we have never had to face so many challenges, so many harsh demands, and so much competitive pressure like now" - General Secretary To Lam emphasized.
According to the General Secretary, we are entering a new stage of development with the backpack being the glorious tradition of the nation, the result of 96 years under the leadership of the Party, 40 years of renovation with valuable lessons, the strength of national solidarity and the position of people's hearts. We have enough basis to believe: When there is high unity in ideology; determination in action; strictness in discipline; The people are truly the center, we will definitely make aspirations come true; make the country move forward strongly, move forward firmly in the era of national growth, moving towards socialism.

Dr. Vu Trong Lam, Director - Editor-in-Chief of the Truth National Political Publishing House - analyzed and reviewed the history of the past 96 years since the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the leadership of the Vietnamese revolution (1930-2026), each Party Congress is a historic turning point in the leadership process of gaining independence, freedom, building and developing the country.

According to Dr. Nguyen Si Dung - former Deputy Head of the National Assembly Office, the 14th Congress has ended, but greater new confidence, stronger new aspirations and a new higher sense of responsibility have been opened to the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army. The Congress has clearly established a development vision, opening a path forward in the new period, while setting higher requirements for governance capacity and implementation organization.
According to Dr. Nguyen Si Dung, the new development stage requires new thinking, new ways of doing things and stronger actions. Towards People's Happiness - the Supreme measure of sustainable development
From a local perspective, the presentations at the 14th Congress all meet in one thing: All innovations in leadership thinking, development models and governance must be aimed at the happiness of the people - the highest measure of sustainable development.
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong emphasized that the capital not only needs to grow rapidly and sustainably but also needs to strongly innovate the leadership method of the Party Committee, meeting the requirements of the new development era. Hanoi must become a model of order, security, civilization, where people can live in a peaceful environment, rich in material and spiritual values; all innovations in science - technology, digital transformation must first of all be to better serve the people.
In that spirit, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc affirmed that the city's development aspirations are always associated with the happiness of the people.
