Appointing Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee Le Quang Tung as Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee

On July 25, the Standing Committee of An Giang Provincial Party Committee held a Conference to announce the Politburo's Decision on personnel work. At the conference, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee Le Quang Tung was transferred, assigned, and appointed to hold the position of Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030.

Attending the conference were Politburo Member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Commission Nguyen Duy Ngoc; Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Commission Nguyen Thanh Tam, along with representatives of leaders of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee.

At the conference, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee Nguyen Thanh Tam announced Decision No. 249-QDNS/TW, dated July 18, 2026 of the Politburo deciding that comrade Le Quang Tung, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, will no longer participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and no longer hold the position of Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee and related titles; transfer, assign, and appoint to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, hold the position of Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee for the term 2025 - 2030, and appoint to participate in the Party Committee of Military Region 9.

At the conference, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee Nguyen Thanh Tam announced that previously, the Prime Minister also had a decision to transfer comrade Nguyen Tien Hai to stop participating in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and stop holding the position of Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee, to work at the Ministry of Home Affairs and assigned him as Acting Minister of Home Affairs.

The Politburo and the Secretariat have decided to transfer and appoint comrade Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of An Giang province to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, and hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Central Party agencies for the 2025-2030 term.

Comrade Le Quang Tung, born in 1971, native of Can Loc commune, Ha Tinh province. Doctorate in Economic Management, University majoring in Mechanics.

Before holding the position of Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Le Quang Tung held many positions: Director of the Department of Science, Education, Natural Resources and Environment; Director of the Department of Local and Territorial Economy - Ministry of Planning and Investment; Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee; Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Quang Tri province; Secretary General of the National Assembly, Secretary of the Party Committee of the National Assembly Office, Chairman of the National Assembly Office; Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee. He was awarded the Certificate of Merit of the Prime Minister (2013); Certificate of Merit of the 15th National Assembly Standing Committee (2025).
