General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated Ambassador Marc Knapper's important contributions to the good development of Vietnam - US relations.

On January 9, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper to bid farewell on the occasion of the end of his term.

The General Secretary congratulated Ambassador Marc Knapper on successfully completing his term of office in Vietnam and highly appreciated the Ambassador's important contributions to the good development of the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The General Secretary welcomed the two countries' many outstanding achievements in various fields, emphasizing that Vietnam is ready to promote further cooperation with the US, including the signing of a counter- trade agreement, fairness and balance.

The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam is consistent with its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, cooperation and development, diversification and multilateralization of foreign relations; consistent with the "4 no's" defense policy.

Vietnam always attaches importance to its relationship with the US and wishes to continue to cooperate closely with the US Government to further deepen bilateral relations between the two countries on the basis of respect for each other's sovereignty, territorial integrity and political institutions, actively contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
