General Secretary and President To Lam begins state visit to India
General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation arrived in New Delhi, beginning a state visit to the Republic of India.
In the afternoon of May 5 (local time), General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation arrived at Palam military airport, New Delhi capital, beginning a state visit to the Republic of India at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Welcoming General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation at the airport were Indian Minister of Home Affairs Nityanand Rai; Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Tshering Wangchuk Sherpa; Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai; Vietnamese Consul General in Mumbai (India) Le Quang Bien and a large number of officials and staff of the Embassy, the Vietnamese community and Vietnamese students in India.
Across the capital New Delhi, the Indian Government has arranged portrait photos of General Secretary and President To Lam with enthusiastic bilingual slogans of welcome.
At the hotel, a large number of Indian artists warmly welcomed General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation with traditional dances.
Immediately after arriving in New Delhi, General Secretary and President To Lam received Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval; met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in India.
The visit is an important and special foreign affairs event. This is the first time General Secretary and President To Lam has visited India in a new position, taking place on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (2016 - 2026).
The visit is a clear demonstration of the foreign policy of our Party and State in the new era that the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress has set out. That is independence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization, diversification of foreign relations, and being a responsible member of the international community.
