Lam Dong - Provincial People's Committee approves plan to arrange the education network, expected to reduce 628 facilities and 1,687 management and staff.

On August 22, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee announced that it had approved the Overall Plan for arranging the network of public preschool, general and continuing education institutions in the area.

The arrangement is being implemented in 124 communes, wards, and special zones. Before implementation, the whole province had 1,593 educational institutions. Of which, there were 1,453 public institutions, with 840,801 preschool children, general education students and 770 school sites.

After arrangement, the whole province is expected to reduce 628 establishments, equivalent to 43.22%. The number of management officials and employees also decreased by 1,687 people, including 1,007 management officials and 680 employees.

The arrangement aims to streamline focal points, reorganize the school network to suit population size, population distribution and local conditions. Thereby, focus resources, improve management efficiency, and quality of education.

The plan is implemented in a non-mechanical direction, with learners as the center, ensuring access to education.

Each commune-level administrative unit must have at least one preschool education institution and one general education institution teaching all levels of primary and secondary school.

Schools of the same level, small scale or with suitable locations are prioritized for review and arrangement, towards a large-scale school model with branches, school sites or multiple levels of education.

The plan is not to merge kindergartens with general schools; general schools with continuing education centers, vocational education - continuing education.

Specialized educational institutions also do not arrange with mass general schools.

In particularly difficult areas, border areas, ethnic minority areas, divided areas, and areas with difficult travel, educational institutions are temporarily maintained to ensure the right to education of students.

The arrangement of staff is implemented according to job positions, without generating staff increases and without interrupting educational activities.

According to the roadmap, localities will complete the arrangement project before August 23rd; establish units after arrangement before August 27th and hand over personnel, records, finance, and assets before August 30th.
