Many officials receiving early pensions under Decree 178 find jobs again

Phu Tho - Many officials receiving pensions under Decree 178 have stable sources of income but still want to find part-time jobs to maintain their health and rhythm of life.

Ms. Pham Bich Ngoc, 56 years old, used to work at a department in the old Hoa Binh province. In March 2025, she retired according to the policy stipulated in Decree 178 and currently receives more than 7 million VND in pension each month.

Her children have all grown up, and her grandchild is in 6th grade. With her current income, Ms. Ngoc believes that life basically meets spending needs.

However, she does not want to spend all her time at home resting. At the age of 56, with good health, she wants to continue working, exercising and maintaining her previous lifestyle.

After more than a year of quitting her job, she applied for a daily cleaning job at an industrial park near her house. The main job is cleaning and sanitation.

Although not requiring much expertise, the job brings her joy when every day there are more people to communicate with and time to exercise.

I go to work mainly to be healthy. If I can do it, just do it, both to have more income and to have work to mobilize," Ms. Ngoc shared.

Unlike Ms. Ngoc, Ms. Nguyen Viet Bich wants to continue working in a job suitable to her expertise after leaving the state sector.

Ms. Bich has nearly 20 years of experience working in the financial sector. Many years of attachment to the job have made her not want to quit completely even though she has left the public sector.

When implementing the arrangement, the unit where she worked was transferred to the provincial center. Meanwhile, her parents are both old. The long working distance makes it difficult for her to continue working as before.

When the support policy according to Decree 178 was implemented, Ms. Bich decided to resign. After completing the procedures, she received more than 700 million VND in support money.

With this amount of money, she did not choose to rest but actively looked for a new job. With many years of experience in the financial field, she quickly found a job at an import-export company.

Currently, she receives a salary of more than 10 million VND per month. The new job helps her continue to use the knowledge and experience accumulated in nearly 20 years of work.

According to the Phu Tho Department of Home Affairs, after the merger of 3 provinces Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc and Hoa Binh, the whole province has about 3, 199 officials, civil servants, and public employees resigning according to Decree 178/2024/ND-CP and Decree 67/2025/ND-CP.

Of which, about 2,427 people retired early and 772 people resigned immediately. The old Hoa Binh had 1,244 cases, the old Phu Tho had 1,217 cases and the old Vinh Phuc had 738 cases.

After the two-level local government model operated from July 1, some officials continued to resign.

In the former Hoa Binh communes, the distance from residence to new workplace was too far, causing many people difficulties in traveling and continuing work.

For those who are still healthy and need to work, finding a suitable job after retiring under the policy is a way to earn extra income, maintain health and continue to stick with the job.
