On the afternoon of April 22, immediately after the State-level welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Palace, General Secretary and President To Lam held talks with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung.

The two sides emphasized the implementation of a strategic vision on economic integration in the new context, in which they jointly strive to complete the goal of bilateral trade turnover reaching 150 billion USD by 2030; committed to continuing to facilitate trade, open up import and export markets for each other's goods; support Vietnamese businesses to participate in the Korean production supply chain and build an independent and self-reliant economy.

General Secretary and President To Lam highly appreciated the investment participation and contribution of Korean businesses to Vietnam's socio-economic development process; welcomed Korean businesses to expand investment scale in priority areas such as infrastructure development, smart cities, semiconductors, large-scale AI data centers, smart seaport cooperation and building new generation seaports.

President Lee Jae Myung thanked and wished the Vietnamese Government to continue to pay attention to and support the removal of difficulties and obstacles in investment projects of Korean businesses in Vietnam; committed to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese side to effectively implement the capital of the Economic Cooperation Promotion Fund (EDCF) and the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDPF), focusing on Vietnam's strategic infrastructure sectors.

In addition, the two sides agreed to promote scientific and technological cooperation, innovation and digital transformation to become an important driving force to promote bilateral cooperation and the development goals of each country.

General Secretary and President To Lam requested the two sides to promote research cooperation and technology transfer between the two countries and requested Korea to continue to support Vietnam in implementing the Vietnam - Korea Institute of Science and Technology (VKIST) Project.

Approving and highly appreciating the proposals of General Secretary and President To Lam, President Lee Jae Myung said that South Korea is ready to share technology in future industries such as artificial intelligence, semiconductor, clean energy, human resource training, contributing to supporting the country's modernization and the development of advanced science and technology of Vietnam; requested the two sides to strengthen the connection of the innovation and creative startup ecosystem between the two countries.

General Secretary and President To Lam requested South Korea to actively support Vietnam in developing the cultural industry and entertainment industry, and share tourism promotion experiences.
