Hanoi accelerates construction of new Mai Linh bridge, reducing congestion at the western gateway

After nearly a year of construction, many new Mai Linh bridge piers have completed the reinforced concrete structure. The project is being accelerated, striving to technically open to traffic before the Lunar New Year Dinh Mui 2027.

The new Mai Linh bridge project on National Highway 6 is being mobilized with maximum manpower and machinery to continuously construct, ensuring completion progress, contributing to early solving the prolonged congestion at the western gateway of Hanoi.

For many years, the existing Mai Linh bridge area has been considered a "black spot" of traffic congestion, especially during peak hours, weekends and holidays, Tet, when the traffic volume increases sharply. Prolonged congestion not only seriously affects people's travel but also hinders the transportation of goods on this vital traffic route.

According to the plan, the new Mai Linh bridge will be completed and put into use in 2027. When it is operated synchronously with the project to expand National Highway 6, Ba La - Xuan Mai section, the project is expected to improve traffic flow capacity, share pressure with the existing Mai Linh bridge and gradually solve the congestion situation at the western gateway of the Capital.

Recorded on July 22, at the Mai Linh bridge construction site, contractors are focusing maximum manpower and equipment to deploy important items.

Representatives of the construction unit said that the units are making efforts to closely follow the progress, striving to complete the project according to the plan, and soon put the project into operation to reduce traffic pressure for the area.

Not only meaningful in terms of transportation, the completed project also opens up new development space for the Ha Dong - Chuong My - Xuan Mai corridor. Along with a series of infrastructure projects being implemented, the route is expected to become a driving force to promote urban, industrial, logistics and real estate market development, and at the same time complete the strategic connecting axis from the Capital to the Northwest provinces.

Recently, during a field inspection of the project, Hanoi Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang requested communes and wards to complete the entire project site clearance work before June 30, 2026, and at the same time complete the demolition of architectural works in July 2026 to hand over clean ground to the construction unit.

Hanoi City also requires contractors, immediately after receiving the site, to mobilize maximum manpower and equipment, and organize continuous construction according to the motto "3 shifts, 4 teams". The goal is to ensure technical traffic on the project before the Lunar New Year Dinh Mui 2027 and complete the entire project in the first quarter of 2027.
