Construction workers brace themselves against the scorching heat in Phu Tho

In the hot summer days, when Phu Tho's temperature regularly exceeds 38 degrees Celsius, thousands of construction workers are still diligently exhaling sweat on the construction sites. For them, wet shirts stuck to their backs have become a familiar image to stick with the profession.

At construction sites, the heat splashing from the concrete mixed with dust, machine noise... makes the air sultry and stuffy. For workers, their working space these days is no different from a "pot of fire".

To cope with the heat, construction workers are forced to equip themselves with tight protective clothing. Long-sleeved shirts, face scarves, masks and hats are indispensable items.

The heat not only erodes physical strength but also directly threatens the health of workers. It is not difficult to encounter short breaks of workers in makeshift camps, in the shade of unfinished walls.

There are workers who are old, their faces are marked with hardship, sharing that these peak hot days make their bodies lose strength very quickly. However, for the sake of food and clothing, for responsibility to their families and the progress of the project, they still put aside fatigue to continue to hold shovels and lift bricks.

Mr. Nguyen Van Chung (from Lam Thao commune) - a construction worker at the Hung Vuong road upgrade and renovation project, the section from provincial road 320B to National Highway 2 in Phong Chau ward - said that because of the hot weather, workers have to flexibly change working hours, go to the construction site from early morning, rest before noon and work again in the late afternoon when the temperature has dropped.

To fight the heat, we have to buy ourselves air conditioning clothes to cool our bodies, prepare cool water to drink when we are thirsty... Although this project is ahead of schedule, we are still trying to finish quickly so that people and workers can travel more easily" - Mr. Chung shared.

According to Mr. Thieu Quang Cong - Director of Phong Chau Ward Project Management Board, the project to upgrade and renovate Hung Vuong road section from provincial road 320B to National Highway 2 is under construction ahead of schedule, expected to be completed around July - August (deadline until the end of 2026).

To achieve those results, we cannot fail to mention the efforts of the construction unit in general, and engineers and workers at the construction site in particular. It can be said that they have overcome sun and rain to bring the project to the finish line early" - Mr. Cong shared.

Harsh sun and wind can darken the skin and drain energy, but it does not overshadow the will of genuine workers. They are the ones who create a new face for their homeland and country, and are a bright example of persistent and resilient labor spirit.
