Base salary increases from July 1st, increases in health insurance contributions for students
From July 1, 2026, the base salary increase will also lead to an increase in the health insurance contributions of students according to regulations.
From July 1, 2026, the base salary increases to 2.53 million VND/month. At the same time, according to Decree 188/2025/ND-CP, students are supported by the State with at least 50% of the health insurance contribution level, instead of the 30% support level as before.
The formula for calculating student health insurance contributions is as follows:
Health insurance premium = Base salary x 4.5% x number of months of participation
According to the new base salary of 2.53 million VND/month, the level of health insurance contribution for students after being supported by 50% is determined as follows:
Thus, the maximum contribution level for students is about VND 56,925/month.
Compared to before July 1, 2026, the health insurance contribution level has been adjusted to increase due to the base salary increasing from 2.34 million VND to 2.53 million VND/month.
Because the base salary increased from 2.34 million VND to 2.53 million VND/month, the level of student health insurance contributions from July 1, 2026 also increased correspondingly. Thanks to the policy of supporting at least 50% of the contribution level from the State budget, the actual amount that students have to pay is still significantly lower than in cases where they are not supported.
