Storm No. 3 combines convergence zone, Ho Chi Minh City has widespread thunderstorms from early morning
The impact of storm No. 3 combined with the intertropical convergence zone and the Southwest monsoon caused Ho Chi Minh City to continue to experience widespread thunderstorms on August 6.
Satellite cloud image monitoring, weather radar and lightning positioning show that the convective cloud area is developing strongly, causing rain with thunderstorms and lightning in many areas of Ho Chi Minh City, including Binh Tan, Tan Son wards and Tan Vinh Loc, Binh My, Dong Thanh, Binh Loi communes... In addition, a strong thunderstorm cloud area from Tay Ninh is moving in the Southwest - Northeast direction towards Ho Chi Minh City.
In the next 3 hours, convective clouds will continue to develop, maintain showers and thunderstorms in the above areas, then expand to many other areas such as Chanh Hiep, Phu Loi, Thuan An, Lai Thieu, An Lac, Binh Hung Hoa, Tan Phu, Saigon, Ben Thanh, Cau Ong Lanh, Cho Quan, Phu Dinh wards and Tan Nhut, Cu Chi, Tan An Hoi, Nhuan Duc, Xuan Thoi Son, Hung Long communes...
Common rainfall is from 5-20 mm, in some places over 25 mm. During thunderstorms, people need to be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail, strong gusts of wind at level 5-7 (8-17 m/s) and the risk of localized flooding in low-lying areas.
According to the meteorological agency, the weather pattern causing rain is due to the tropical convergence zone with its axis passing through the North and North Central regions, connected to the center of storm No. 3 in the North East Sea area, combined with the Southwest monsoon operating at medium intensity.
On August 6, the weather in Ho Chi Minh City and the South is generally cloudy, sunny during the day, showers and scattered thunderstorms in the evening and at night, locally heavy rain, mainly concentrated in the southeastern provinces.
