9,056 surplus real estate facilities need to continue to be handled
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the number of surplus real estate that need to be further processed is 9,056 facilities. Previously, the total number of housing and land facilities that were handled was 17,496.
The process of merging administrative units is causing a large amount of public assets that need to be handled, especially surplus housing and land funds.
In that context, localities are urgently completing planning, clearly defining authority, speeding up the arrangement and handling of public assets, ensuring effective use, avoiding loss and waste.
In the report sent by the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Government conference on January 8, it was stated that the Ministry of Finance has advised the Government and the Prime Minister to issue many decrees and decisions related to the management and use of public assets.
Thereby contributing to perfecting the legal framework and creating an important basis to strengthen discipline, order, improve publicity, transparency and efficiency in state management of public assets.
Ministries, branches and localities continue to strictly implement the management and use of public assets, strict management, economical use, effective exploitation of public assets, corruption prevention and control in the process of organizing the implementation of tasks and public duties.
Continue to review and update data on the Public Asset Management software, complete the national database on public assets.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Finance, the results of the arrangement, arrangement and handling of surplus houses and land, by December 2025, the total number of houses and land that have been handled is 17,496 (accounting for 65.89%).
Of which, 798 facilities have been allocated for health purposes, 4,002 facilities have been allocated for educational purposes, 1,314 facilities have been allocated for cultural and sports purposes, 7,952 facilities have been allocated for administrative and career facilities; the number of surplus real estate facilities that need to continue to be processed is 9,056 facilities.
The Ministry of Home Affairs proposes upgrading the National Database on Public Assets, promptly updating and managing information of all public assets; speeding up the processing of public assets and offices after the arrangement of administrative units; reviewing all public assets and offices that are not used or are used inefficiently or for purposes other than those prescribed.
Relevant ministries, branches and localities urgently complete the planning of provinces, communes and special zones; preside over and coordinate with localities to arrange funding, complete equipment and working facilities, and handle surplus headquarters to ensure stable and effective operating conditions.
Continue to review, arrange, strictly manage, and effectively use public assets to propose to the Government a handling plan and handling progress for surplus facilities and public assets, avoid loss and waste, and ensure that resources are used for the right purposes and effectively.
In Can Tho, the total number of offices and career facilities under the management of the city is currently 4,174 facilities. After the review, classification and handling process, the number of surplus facilities has decreased sharply, currently there are only 178 facilities, including 33 city-level facilities and 145 commune-level facilities.
According to statistics, after the arrangement, Hue City has 401 surplus houses and land. Of these, 248 facilities are subject to handling according to the provisions of the law on land; 153 facilities are surplus houses and land arising directly after the arrangement.
In Ca Mau, there are 289 surplus real estate facilities that need to be arranged by 2026.
