Union officials link employee rights with business development

In the patriotic emulation movement widely deployed from the grassroots, many union officials have affirmed their role with persistent contributions, directly linked to production and workers' lives. Mr. Ngo Truong Huy - Deputy Party Cell Secretary, Head of the Administrative Management Department, Chairman of the Trade Union of Thu Duc Long An Concrete Joint Stock Company is one of such outstanding individuals.

Linking union activities with production and workers' lives

Having received professional training in mechanical engineering and mechanical engineering, Mr. Huy has many years of experience working at enterprises, directly participating in administrative management, production organization and construction of working environment. As Head of the Administrative Management Department, he always completes professional tasks well, and proactively advises the business leadership in improving working conditions, arranging production lines, reducing the intensity of manual labor and improving work efficiency at workshops.

From a technical and management professional background, Mr. Huy has participated in trade union activities with a practical approach, linking workers' rights with the stable development of enterprises. Having been elected as Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union since 2008, after many terms, he has always played a bridging role between workers and employers, contributing to building harmonious and stable labor relations.

One of Mr. Huy's clear marks during his working process was his participation in building and negotiating collective labor agreements. Instead of machinery copying general regulations, the grassroots trade union has organized to collect workers' opinions, synthesize content close to production reality to propose to the board of directors. As a result, the enterprise's collective labor agreement has many provisions higher than the law, from wages, bonuses, working hours to allowances and welfare regimes.

Caring for welfare, building a stable and sustainable working environment

Along with that, Mr. Huy proactively proposed many solutions to care for workers' lives based on the conditions of the enterprise. Works serving workers such as free accommodation for workers in remote areas, mid- shift rest areas, food safety and hygiene standard dining houses, libraries and community living spaces are implemented synchronously, bringing practical results. These items not only improve working conditions but also contribute to retaining workers, helping businesses maintain stable production.

In trade union activities, Mr. Huy focuses on transparency and consensus. The use of revenue from selling scrap of enterprises to supplement the welfare fund is proposed to collect employees' opinions, use it for the right purpose for scholarship programs, support for un interest-free loans and build a "Union Shelter". This approach not only creates more resources to care for union members but also strengthens workers' trust in the union organization.

In addition to material care, Mr. Huy is interested in building a united and disciplined working environment. Through cultural, sports, collective activities and direct contact at the workshop, he regularly listens to the thoughts and aspirations of workers to promptly reflect to the business leaders. Many recommendations related to working conditions, labor safety, and shift meals have been accepted and adjusted, contributing to reducing frustration and limiting arising labor disputes.

As Deputy Secretary of the Party Cell, Mr. Ngo Truong Huy always upholds the spirit of being exemplary and responsible in performing assigned tasks. He actively participated in Party building work in enterprises, coordinated training and introduced outstanding masses to the Party organization, contributing to strengthening the leadership role of Party cells in non-state enterprises.

Those persistent efforts have been recognized with many titles and forms of commendation from trade unions and authorities at all levels. Mr. Ngo Truong Huy is one of the outstanding grassroots union presidents who were commended and rewarded by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in the patriotic emulation movement; at the same time, for many consecutive years, he has achieved the title of union member for excellently completing his tasks.

Mr. Huy's practical work shows that the effectiveness of trade union activities does not only come from movements and slogans, but is formed from professional capacity, business understanding and a sense of responsibility towards workers. His example is a testament to the fact that grassroots union officials, when sticking to production, listening to workers and acting for the common good, will contribute to creating a solid foundation for the patriotic emulation movement spreading from the grassroots.
