Taking good care creates motivation to develop union members
Linking union member development work with caring for life and protecting workers' rights is being effectively implemented by many grassroots trade unions in the province. From there, creating a bond between workers and trade union organizations and businesses.
Mr. Nguyen Van Be Hai - Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union of Furukawa Automotive Systems Vinh Long Vietnam Co., Ltd. - said that from the beginning of the year to May 2026, the unit developed 676 new union members, exceeding the set target. Currently, 100% of employees at the company participate in the Trade Union, with 4,785 union members.
In addition to union member development, the grassroots trade union of Furukawa Automotive Systems Vinh Long Vietnam Co., Ltd. always pays attention to caring for the lives of workers. Visiting activities, emergency difficulty allowances, and support for sick union members are implemented promptly, creating cohesion in the enterprise.

Typically, worker Duong Thanh Huan suffered from acute blood cancer, in particularly difficult circumstances. The grassroots trade union launched a donation campaign throughout the company, mobilizing more than 136 million VND to support treatment costs, helping his family overcome the difficult period.
At Lefaso Tra Vinh Industrial Investment and Production Joint Stock Company, Mr. Cao Huu Trong Bac - Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union said that the unit has developed 446 trade union members, reaching 100% of the assigned target. Currently, the company has 2,997 union members out of a total of 2,997 employees.
In addition to completing housing support dossiers for 2 workers in difficult circumstances, the union also maintains specific care activities such as organizing gatherings and giving gifts on the occasion of the Chol Chnam Thmay and Sen Dolta Tet holidays to Khmer workers, contributing to strengthening the cohesion in the business.
Developing union members must go hand in hand with improving welfare
According to a report by the Provincial Labor Federation, in the first months of 2026, trade union levels newly developed 13,628 union members, reaching 52.41% of the annual plan; newly established 26 grassroots trade unions, reaching 52% of the assigned target.
Currently, the Provincial Labor Federation is managing 5 commune and ward trade unions along with 640 grassroots trade unions and grassroots trade unions. The total number of trade union members reached 176,970 people out of a total of 184,799 workers, corresponding to a gathering rate of 95.76%.
The above results show that the development of union members continues to be concerned and implemented by trade union levels. Many units have proactively innovated their approach to workers through practical care and support activities, creating trust in the trade union organization.

Mr. Nguyen Phuc Linh - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation - said that sustainable union membership development is not only about increasing the number but also about caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers. This is an important factor in building a strong Trade Union organization.
According to Mr. Linh, reality shows that units that well implement welfare programs, support union members in difficult circumstances and care for workers' lives often achieve high results in mobilizing and gathering workers to participate in the Trade Union organization.
However, some grassroots trade unions are still slow to innovate the content and methods of operation. The team of trade union officials mainly works part-time, under pressure from professional tasks, so the time spent on trade union work is still limited.
In addition, the lives of a part of workers are still facing many difficulties and pressures on income and living expenses. In the coming time, trade union levels will continue to improve the quality of welfare, pay practical attention to attracting and retaining union members.
