According to Major Nguyen Van Sau, ending the situation of illegal, unreported and unregulated seafood exploitation is an urgent requirement to develop the fishing industry in a modern, sustainable, and responsible direction; and at the same time contribute to the whole country to soon remove the "yellow card" warning of the European Commission (EC).

At the conference, the reporter of Trieu Van Border Guard Station disseminated the key contents of the 2017 Fisheries Law and regulations on combating IUU fishing.

Fishermen are guided to fully carry out registration, inspection, and exploitation license procedures; maintain the operation of journey monitoring devices; record exploitation logs; comply with regulations on port entry and exit and do not violate foreign waters to illegally exploit seafood.

On this occasion, the organizing committee presented 30 gifts to fishing households in difficult circumstances, encouraging people to continue to reach out to sea, stick to the sea, develop the economy associated with protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.

Immediately after the conference, officers and soldiers of the three units organized mobile propaganda at Nam Cua Viet Fishing Port and on anchored fishing boats.

The forces distributed hundreds of leaflets, handed over 100 national flags to fishermen; and directly guided ship owners to strictly implement regulations on combating IUU fishing, and raise awareness of law compliance in the process of operating at sea.
