Quang Tri builds new and repairs 3,520 houses for policy families
Quang Tri - The province is deploying the construction and repair of 3,520 houses for people with meritorious services to the revolution, relatives of martyrs and families of victims of chemical toxins.
To celebrate the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026), on the morning of July 15, Quang Tri province simultaneously organized a groundbreaking ceremony to build and repair 143 houses out of a total of 3,520 temporary and dilapidated houses for policy families in the area.
The supported subjects include people with meritorious services to the revolution, relatives of martyrs and biological children of resistance activists infected with chemical toxins.
At Thuan Bai residential group, Bac Gianh ward, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, along with representatives of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and departments and branches attended the groundbreaking ceremony for building a house for Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyet.
Ms. Quyet's old house has deteriorated and is heavily damaged, affecting the daily life and quality of life of the family. Sharing this difficult situation, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at all levels and agencies and units decided to support the family to build a new house.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Quang Tri Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Phuong proposed to mobilize the entire political system, agencies, units, businesses and people to join hands and contribute to building solid houses for policy families.
Housing support not only helps families stabilize their lives but also demonstrates the morality of "When drinking water, remember the source", contributing to the effective implementation of social security policies in the area.
Also on the morning of July 15, leaders of Quang Tri province attended the groundbreaking ceremony for housing construction for prioritized subjects in Ninh Chau, Cam Hong, Cua Tung and Tan Lap communes.
In Ninh Chau commune, forces under the Commune Military Command have supported families to dismantle old houses, clear ground and transport and gather construction materials. After the groundbreaking ceremony, the houses were immediately deployed for construction to ensure progress.
According to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri province, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for people with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of martyrs in the province includes 3,159 houses.
Of which, 947 houses were newly built, and 2,212 houses were upgraded and repaired.
The housing support program for children of resistance war activists infected with chemical toxins includes 361 houses in 77 communes and wards. Among these, 182 houses were newly built and 179 houses were repaired.
Quang Tri province mobilized and integrated the "For the Poor" Fund, local budget and socialized sources to increase the support level to about 100 million VND for each newly built house and 50 million VND for each repaired house.
The total cost of implementing the two programs is expected to be more than 232 billion VND.
