Lao Cai Police Youth cook a meaningful meal to show gratitude to veterans

On July 22, the Youth Union and Women's Union of Lao Cai Provincial Police coordinated with the Youth Union of Van Phu Ward Police to organize the program "Warm and loving family meal" at the house of Mr. Truong Van Thinh (born 1948, residential group 14, Van Phu Ward) - a veteran who participated in the anti-American resistance war for national salvation.

In August 1966, Mr. Truong Van Thinh enlisted in the army, fighting in the Binh Dinh battlefield. During his time working at the Military Machinery Workshop, unit 2K2, he directly participated in manufacturing weapons for combat. In 1972, he unfortunately was shot through the chest.

After a period of treatment, with the steadfast will of Uncle Ho's soldiers, he continued to return to his unit, completing his duties until the day the country was unified.

In 1976, due to declining health after the war, he was discharged and returned to his hometown. However, he continued to participate in the frontline civilian labor force, contributing to the cause of building his homeland after the peace was restored.

Currently, old and his health has declined after a mild stroke, but the veteran still always preserves memories of the heroic years of fighting and the pride in contributing to the Fatherland.

At the program, youth union members and women's union members of Lao Cai Provincial Police cordially inquired, encouraged, presented gifts worth 1 million VND and listened to stories about a difficult wartime.

After moments of sharing, union members and association members and their families prepared simple dishes, gathering in a warm and loving family meal.

The meal not only brought a warm and close atmosphere but also an opportunity for the young generation to express deep gratitude to those who have dedicated their youth and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the nation.

The program is a practical activity in response to the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, contributing to spreading the morality of "When drinking water, remember the source", "Gratitude", and at the same time educating revolutionary traditions, fostering patriotism and responsibility of the youth of the People's Police towards previous generations.
