Vietnam Veterans Associations at all levels donated 12,430 houses of "Vietnamese Soldiers' Affection"
On the morning of June 17, the solemn session of the VIII National Congress of the Vietnam Veterans Association, term 2026-2031, took place.
Reporting at the congress, Lieutenant General Khuat Viet Dung, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association, said that in the 2022-2026 term, the Associations at all levels have thoroughly grasped and seriously implemented the Resolutions and Conclusions of the Central Committee and the Politburo on rearranging the political system and building two-level local governments; Decision No. 304 of the Politburo; Decision No. 549/QD-MTTW-BTT on the functions and tasks of the CCB Working Committee; advised and closely coordinated with the Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Provincial and City Party Committees to consolidate the organizational model and contingent of cadres of the CCB Associations at all levels and maintain operations in accordance with the conclusions and decisions of the Politburo and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
Associations at all levels closely follow the direction of the Central Association and localities to organize the effective implementation of social supervision and criticism tasks; participate in contributing opinions to build the Party and build the government according to Decision No. 217-QD/TW and Decision No. 218-QD/TW dated December 12, 2013 of the Politburo; many opinions participated with quality, responsibility and enthusiasm with Party committees and Party organizations at all levels; including hundreds of thousands of enthusiastic opinions from veterans nationwide contributing to building the amended and supplemented 2025 Constitution and many other important legal documents.
In the past term, veterans associations at all levels effectively implemented the movement of veterans helping each other reduce poverty, doing good economics, improving life; actively participating in socio-economic programs of the locality and the whole country. Accordingly, veterans associations at all levels actively mobilized veterans to promote the spirit of self-reliance, self-strengthening, daring to think and dare to do, mobilizing all resources and the help of Party committees, authorities, departments, branches, and mass organizations in localities, taking advantage of State support policies for veterans to promote helping each other in economic development, improving life, and reducing poverty... The whole association removed 16,223 dilapidated houses and temporary houses for members; built/gifted 12,430 houses of "Meaningful Affection for Veterans" with the amount of 944.4 billion VND.
Effectively maintain the coordination regulations between the Vietnam Veterans Association and the Vietnam Veterans Business Association; enterprises under the Vietnam Veterans Business Association operate effectively, well fulfill their obligations to the State budget, contribute to creating jobs, ensuring social security, actively participating in charity and humanitarian activities, hunger eradication and poverty reduction. The whole Association currently has 8,228 enterprises, 2,045 cooperatives, 4,310 cooperative groups, 190,021 farms and family farms; attracting 781,513 workers. Every year, tens of thousands of veterans members achieve the title "Good Manufacturing and Business" at all levels.
Association levels from central to local have organized many professional training conferences, digital transformation, and environmental protection in new rural construction, helping officials and members grasp the major guidelines and policies of the Party and State and the orientations of the Central Association, creating conditions for management and direction of economic activities to be practical and suitable for the grassroots level.
