Taking DNA samples from relatives, adding hope to identify martyrs
Hanoi - Linh Nam Ward People's Committee organizes DNA sampling of 67 relatives of martyrs, contributing to building a database to serve the identification of martyrs' remains.
On June 29, Linh Nam Ward People's Committee (Hanoi) organized the collection of DNA biological samples from relatives of martyrs' families whose graves information has not been identified in the area. The activity was deployed at the headquarters of Linh Nam Ward Police, implemented according to Plan No. 302/KH-UBND dated June 26, 2026 on "Operation 500 days and nights to promote the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains and identify martyrs' remains", towards the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2027).
The campaign aims to mobilize the strength of the entire political system in the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains, creating positive changes in the implementation of particularly important political tasks. At the same time, this is also an activity to express gratitude to heroic martyrs who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, contributing to educating the tradition of "When drinking water, remember the source", "Gratitude" for generations.


This collection phase has 67 relatives of martyrs participating. The entire process of checking, verifying information, declaring dossiers and taking biological samples is carried out in accordance with professional regulations, ensuring science, accuracy, safety and creating convenience for people.
The collection of DNA biological samples is of great significance in building a DNA database for relatives of martyrs, serving for comparison, examination and identification of martyrs' remains that lack information.
According to Linh Nam Ward People's Committee, in the coming time, the locality will continue to coordinate with functional agencies to effectively implement the 500 days and nights Campaign; promote propaganda, review, update data and support relatives of martyrs in the process of collecting DNA biological samples. Thereby contributing to the good implementation of the "Gratitude" work, widely spreading the tradition of "When drinking water, remember the source" in the area.
