Talks between the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the China General Confederation of Labor
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the General Confederation of Labor (ACFTU) have just held talks at the headquarters of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL).
The talks took place under the chairmanship of Comrade Huynh Thanh Xuan - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Comrade Ma Lo - Vice President, Secretary of the ACFTU Secretariat.
Participating in the meeting were comrade Nguyen Duc Thinh - Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Head of the External Relations Department of the General Confederation; representatives of the General Confederation's departments and members of the ACFTU High-level Delegation.
attach importance to promoting friendship and cooperation
At the meeting, the two sides exchanged information on the workers' movement and trade union activities. Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Huynh Thanh Xuan said that currently, Vietnam Trade Unions at all levels are focusing on developing projects and action programs to implement the Resolution of the 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Unions, term 2023-2028, focusing on 3 breakthroughs, including: Promoting dialogue and collective bargaining, focusing on wages, bonuses, working hours, rest hours, occupational safety and hygiene; Focus on developing union members, establishing grassroots unions in non-state enterprises; Build a team of grassroots union chairmen to meet the requirements of tasks, especially union chairmen in non-state enterprises.

Also at the meeting, the Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor affirmed that in its operational orientation, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor always attaches importance to promoting friendship and cooperation with trade unions of other countries, in which the relationship with ACFTU is especially valued at being commensurate with the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China that has been developing very well.

At the meeting, Ms. Ma Lo informed about the goals of the 3rd Executive Committee Conference of the 20th National Communist Party Congress of China. In particular, it emphasized the attention of the leaders of the Party and State of China to the activities of the Trade Union organization.
General Secretary Xi Jinping had a talk with ACFTU leaders, and gave a speech acknowledging the role of the Trade Union organization and its tasks in the coming time.
On that basis, ACFTU conducts activities. In particular, self-reforming in ACFTU, including: Strengthening the foundation for developing grassroots trade unions, actively establishing grassroots trade unions in the informal sector; strengthening trade union management; accelerating the progress of digitalization of trade union work; continuing to improve the qualifications of trade union officials at both central, local and industry trade unions.
ACFTU also reformed the care of workers with 5 activities, including: Strengthening propaganda and education for workers, focusing on propaganda about emulation examples in production labor; actively mobilizing workers to work and contribute; mobilizing workers to participate in creative activities, implementing training projects, fostering skilled technical workers to contribute to building a team of high-quality workers; seriously implementing labor protection and expansion, increasing the number of union members; establishing harmonious labor relations; enhancing foreign exchanges. This working visit to Vietnam aims to enhance foreign exchange.
Regarding the relationship between the two trade union organizations, Ms. Ma Lo suggested implementing visits to enhance each relationship; implementing exchanges at local trade unions and industry trade unions, especially trade unions in border provinces; continuing to maintain international cooperation on the basis of information exchange; continuing to conduct research on workers with the contents of mutual interest of both sides; implementing training programs for trade union officials.
At the meeting, the two sides also focused on exchanging and learning about dialogue, negotiation, signing of collective labor agreements, digital transformation, union member development, establishment of grassroots trade unions, workers in the informal sector, etc.
Organizing practical activities
Regarding the direction of cooperation in the coming time, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor hopes that the ACFTU leadership will continue to pay attention, together with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to promote the relationship between the two sides through practical and effective activities.
The two sides maintain annual exchanges of high-level bilateral delegations, deepen cooperation activities between sectors and labor federations of the two countries, enhance experience sharing; support each other in building harmonious labor relations, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers, improving working conditions and environment, towards the goal of decent employment for all workers; research and have practical and effective cooperation activities.
Create favorable conditions for local trade unions, especially localities with common border lines, and corresponding industry trade unions of the two sides to establish and promote bilateral cooperation in the coming time.
Towards the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025, a year of great significance in Vietnam - China relations and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese General Confederation of Labor, the trade unions of the two countries will strengthen education and propaganda work for union members and workers of the two countries about the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China as well as the trade unions of the two countries. Therefore, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor proposes that the trade union organizations of the two countries will study and propose to organize appropriate and meaningful activities to contribute to the overall success of the commemorative activities. On this occasion, Comrade Ma Lo invited President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang and Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Huynh Thanh Xuan to visit and work in China at an appropriate time.
