At the invitation of the World Trade Union Federation (WFTU), on November 22-23, the Vietnam Trade Union delegation led by Comrade Vu Thi Giang Huong, member of the Presidium, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor attended the World Young Labor Congress in Marseille, France.

The Congress was attended by more than 120 delegates from nearly 40 international and national trade union organizations around the world.

On the first working day of November 22, the Congress summarized and evaluated the implementation of the Congress Resolution for the period 2018-2024 and proposed a resolution and action program for the period 2024-2029; committed to continuing to fight to ensure jobs, improve the material and spiritual life of young workers after the Covid-19 pandemic and in the face of complex and unpredictable fluctuations in the political and economic security situation in the world.

Speaking at the Congress, Comrade Vu Thi Giang Huong, Member of the Presidium, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Head of the Vietnamese delegation, said that during the covid-19 pandemic, through many practical and effective activities, the Vietnam Trade Union has contributed to stabilizing social life and minimizing the negative impacts of the pandemic on workers. "This World Young Workers' Festival will be an important forum for us to exchange experiences, share difficulties and find common solutions, and at the same time, an important bridge for us to build a network of solidarity and mutual support globally. This is an opportunity for us to set common goals together, build a common vision for the future of the young generation, and work together to realize those goals" - Comrade Vu Thi Giang Huong emphasized.

In the presentations, international delegates, especially the French delegates, highly appreciated Vietnam's efforts in the past struggle against the industrialists and protecting national independence and the current construction and development of the country, considering Vietnam's victory as a source of encouragement and motivation for the people and workers of the countries at war.

After speaking, the French delegate approached the Vietnamese delegation, expressing their admiration for the bravery of the heroic Vietnamese people and the strategic talent of President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap. He shared that he had known Vietnam since he was a child through his father's story of taking to the streets to protest the war in Vietnam.

On the sidelines of the Congress, the Vietnam Trade Union delegation met with the Secretary General of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), discussed coordination activities between the two organizations in the coming time, and had exchanges and contacts with trade unions from South Africa, Malaysia, France, Kenya, and the Basque country.

The Vietnam Trade Union delegation shared with delegates from other countries about the results and orientations for trade union activities, affirming that the Vietnam Trade Union is always loyal to the interests of the working class, associated with national and ethnic interests, upholding and promoting the tradition of international solidarity, for peace, national independence, democracy and social progress around the world.
