Vietnam Trade Union delegates attend the Energy Industry Conference

The conference was organized by the Global Industrial and Manufacturing Trade Union (IndustriALL) in collaboration with the FES Institute, with the participation of delegates from Taiwan (China), Singapore, Thailand, Mongolia, Vietnam and the host Philippines.

The delegation of the Vietnam Trade Union was led by Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Department of Legal Policy and Labor Relations, Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Trade Union. The delegation members are representatives of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Trade Union and the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union. These are labor-intensive industries, which are increasingly affected by the process of transforming labor structure, especially when machinery gradually replaces humans and recruiting new workers is also facing many difficulties.

The conference focused on introducing and sharing the latest knowledge and experience on the current equitable transformation trend, which is an inevitable requirement in the context of science and technology making leap strides, especially in artificial intelligence, big data and materials and technology. The energy sector in any country plays an important role in economic and financial development but also faces challenges in the fair transition process, especially not leaving any workers behind.

One of the contents focused on at the Conference is to introduce the general definition of equitable transformation, the steps to be taken at each stage from short-term, medium-term to long-term so that the transformation process takes place appropriately and effectively. Among these, "Gidelines for practicing equitable transformation" was the focus of the conference with sharing from experts at IndustriALL and participating countries.
