The high-ranking delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor visited and worked with the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Japan
At the invitation of the National Federation of Trade Unions of Japan (Zenroren), Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang led the General Confederation delegation to visit and work in Japan from October 3 to 7, 2024.
The visit took place in the context of Vietnam - Japan relations being at a good stage of development, with the latest milestone being the event of the two countries upgrading their relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world (November 2023).
During the visit, the delegation held talks with Chairman of Zenroren Akiyama Masaomi; met and exchanged with representatives of the leaders of the Japanese Communist Party, the Zenroren Financial Trade Union (Kinyu Rouren), the Nara Provincial Trade Union Federation ( narorenoren), the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association in Nara province, the Nara Provincial Industrial Promotion Board; visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan and met with a number of Vietnamese workers living and working in Nara province.
Strengthening people-to-people exchanges, raising knowledge, and consolidating the foundation of friendship between Japan and Vietnam
At the meeting with the leaders of the Japanese Communist Party, the President of the General Confederation of Labor sincerely thanked the Japanese Communist Party delegation led by President Kazuo Shii to visit Vietnam to pay a visit to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; this is a gesture demonstrating the affection and respect of the Japanese Communist and People's Parties and workers for the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries; affirmed that the Vietnam Trade Union is ready to coordinate with Japanese trade union organizations, developing the bilateral relationship in a deep, comprehensive, and commensurate with the new level of bilateral relations.
The leaders of the Japanese Communist Party highly appreciated the visit of Comrade Nguyen Dinh Khang and the High-ranking Delegation of the General Confederation; expressed their delight at witnessing the development of the friendly and cooperative relationship between the General Confederation and Zenroren; said that the relationship between the Japanese Communist Party and Vietnam has developed well through regular theoretical exchanges between the two parties; informed about a number of policies of the Japanese Communist Party focusing on the upcoming general election, including promoting human rights and workers' rights; highly agreed with the proposals of Comrade Nguyen Dinh Khang to strengthen the foundation of friendship, bringing the Japan-Vietnam cooperative relationship into more substantial and effective depth.
Strengthening the friendly and cooperative relationship between the General Confederation and Zenroren
Expressing his pleasure at visiting Japan in the context of the two countries successfully organizing solemn activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan and upgrading relations to the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, at the talks with Chairman of Zenroren Akiyama Masaomi and in the meetings, comrade Nguyen Dinh Khang highly appreciated the solidarity, friendship and long-term cooperation between the General Confederation and Zenroren over the past 30 years, contributing positively to the increasingly strong, comprehensive and substantial development of the bilateral relationship; at the same time, informed about the activities of the Vietnam Trade Union since the beginning of the 13th term, important results in caring for, representing and protecting workers such as participating in the development of labor laws, effectively implementing the role of the National Wage Federation, focusing on raising the number of workers, organizing emulation, organizing emulation, organizing emulation, organizing emulation for workers in labor relations.
President Zenroren highly appreciated the important significance of the visit of the High-level Delegation of the General Confederation of Labor, especially in the context of the relationship between the two organizations being disrupted by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic; informed about some difficulties and challenges of Zenroren in gathering and protecting the rights of workers in the informal sector, the caring economic sector, the labor migration sector, promoting gender equality; shared views opposing the policy of increasing the military strength of the Japanese Government in recent times and spoke out against the global in humanitarian wars, supporting the settlement of the problem by peaceful means.
Regarding the direction of cooperation in the coming time, the two sides agreed to continue to strengthen the friendly and cooperative relationship through continuing to exchange delegations at high and all levels; promoting cooperation between sectors and localities; sharing effective operating models, coordinating to protect the rights of Vietnamese workers and trainees in Japan; maintaining a regular information consultation mechanism between the two sides and supporting each other in international multilateral forums.
Connecting and promoting the effectiveness of cooperation between industry unions and potential localities of the two countries
At meetings with leaders of Zenroren Finance Trade Union and Nara Provincial Trade Union Federation, Comrade Nguyen Dinh Khang proposed to strengthen cooperation to protect Vietnamese workers living and working in Japan, ensuring fair treatment in working conditions and tax obligations in Japan. On this occasion, comrade Nguyen Dinh Khang congratulated the Nara Provincial Trade Union Federation for successfully organizing the Provincial Trade Union Congress; believing that the Provincial Trade Union Federation will continue to achieve many important achievements in the new term.
The two sides agreed to establish and strengthen cooperation with the Vietnam Banking Trade Union and the Thai Nguyen Provincial Federation of Labor; promote information sharing, experience exchange, and resolve difficulties and challenges of workers in the industry and localities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic; protect workers in new sectors such as the health sector, disabled workers, youth workers, etc.
At the meeting with the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association of Nara province and representatives of Vietnamese workers in Nara province, President of the General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang informed about the main features of the domestic development situation, the labor situation and activities of the Vietnam Trade Union; acknowledged and highly appreciated the positive contributions of the Embassy and the Friendship Association in protecting Vietnamese workers living, studying and working in Japan; requested the parties to promote the good traditions and achievements, continue to contribute to consolidating and promoting the friendship, Vietnam - Japan constantly developing for the benefit of the people and workers of the two countries.
