President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor receives by social occasion the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Vietnam

The reception took place on the occasion of Mr. Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Vietnam - coming to pay a courtesy visit before the end of his term.

The activity is even more meaningful as it is held on the eve of the 64th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2024), towards the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year in 2025.

Also attending the reception were Mr. Joy Puentes Saldise - Deputy Ambassador, Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Vietnam and representatives of a number of departments of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL).

President Nguyen Dinh Khang congratulated Mr. Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen on his excellent performance in his duties, including many contributions to promoting the relationship between the two Parties, the two States, and the two Trade Union organizations; and expressed his hope that in the coming time, in his new position, Mr. Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen will continue to pay attention to cooperation activities between the Vietnam Trade Union and the Cuban Trade Union.

The President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor emphasized that the special friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and traditional solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba are symbols of the times and invaluable assets of the two Parties and peoples. The Vietnam Trade Union is determined to continue to inherit and promote the eternal legacy of President Ho Chi Minh and Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro - pioneers in preserving and promoting the good, special, traditional friendship and cooperation that unites the two peoples of Vietnam and Cuba.

On this occasion, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor shared and expressed Vietnam's loyal solidarity, first and last, supporting the just struggle of the Cuban people to demand the United States to lift the embargoes and unreasonable economic blockades against Cuba for more than 60 years.

Regarding the relationship with the Cuban Workers' Center, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor said that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has implemented many cooperative activities with the Cuban Workers' Center, achieving many important results. The cooperation activities between the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Cuban Workers' Center have contributed to thoroughly grasping and concretizing the implementation of the Party's policy on people's diplomacy and the common perception of the senior leaders of Vietnam and Cuba, as well as the joint statement between the leaders of the two countries on the special friendship, tradition of solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries; affirming that the Vietnamese trade union organization always attaches importance to continuing to consolidate and strengthen the special solidarity, friendship, and exemplary solidarity between the trade union organizations of the two countries.

At the meeting, Mr. Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen expressed his deep gratitude for the affection of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the State and people of Vietnam for Cuba. This was vividly demonstrated during the visit to Cuba by General Secretary and President To Lam in September 2024.

Mr. Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen especially appreciated the cooperation, experience exchange, and support of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for the Cuban Workers' Center, and suggested that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Cuban Workers' Center coordinate to organize a number of activities on the occasion of the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year (2025).
