Gifts from the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress" to support workers suffering from serious illnesses

Implementing the program "Gifts from the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress", on the evening of May 28, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) Huynh Thanh Xuan visited and presented gifts to 4 union members and workers (UM, W) in difficult circumstances, suffering from critical illnesses and occupational diseases.

The supported cases are living in Quy Nhon Bac and Quy Nhon Nam wards, including: Ms. Nguyen Thi Phong (born 1976) and Mr. Ha Thoi Hieu (born 1976), workers of Binh Dinh People's Printing Company Limited; Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Thuy (born 1984), worker of Binh Dinh Footwear Joint Stock Company; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Chut (born 1975), worker of Binh Dinh Garment Joint Stock Company.

At the families visited, Mr. Huynh Thanh Xuan cordially inquired about the health and life situation, encouraged union members and workers to strive to treat their illnesses and overcome difficulties to stabilize their lives.

The delegation presented each case with a gift worth 2.5 million VND, including 2 million VND in cash and a gift worth 500,000 VND. These are gifts belonging to the program "Gifts from the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress", supporting union members and workers before and immediately after the Congress.

Sharing about her situation, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Chut said that when she was working normally, her body showed symptoms of prolonged fatigue. After going for a general examination, she was diagnosed with lung cancer, which has worsened and cannot be chemotherapy because the disease has metastasized.

Fighting lung cancer together, Mr. Ha Thoi Hieu is currently facing many difficulties in breathing, having to breathe oxygen for support. Before the concern of the Trade Union organization, Mr. Hieu's family expressed emotion, sent thanks and said they would continue to be optimistic about treatment.

Encouraging workers, the Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour affirmed that the Trade Union organization always accompanies, cares for, and protects the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers, especially those in difficult circumstances, suffering from dangerous diseases, and occupational diseases.

Mr. Huynh Thanh Xuan emphasized that the gifts from the Congress are a very special program, carrying a deep gratitude for the contributions of union members and workers nationwide, showing the spirit of always looking towards workers, towards grassroots levels of the Trade Union organization.

He hopes that the gifts will add spiritual motivation for workers to persistently treat, maintain faith and willpower to overcome illness.

The Trade Union organization will continue to coordinate with agencies, units, and businesses to promote the work of caring for, representing and protecting union members and workers, especially those in difficult circumstances and illnesses," said Mr. Huynh Thanh Xuan.

On this occasion, the Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and the working delegation of the Gia Lai Provincial Confederation of Labour visited and encouraged Mr. Dang Ngoc Bien - former Chairman of the Binh Dinh Provincial Confederation of Labour - who is currently being treated for a serious illness.
