A support when workers are at risk

The new, fragrant and painted house is the beginning of the peaceful days of Ms. Do Minh Thu, a union member of Lac Ty II Company Limited (Can Tho City), after a major incident in her family. In early March 2025, her small house suddenly caught fire and burned down completely. Her father had a mild stroke, her mother sold a small beverage shop at home and had an unstable income.

Faced with that situation, the Trade Union of Lac Ty II Company Limited promptly called on cadres, workers, and union members to join hands to support Ms. Thu's family in rebuilding the new house. The house is 5m wide, 27m long, with a reinforced concrete floor and solid walls, with a total construction cost of 180 million VND. Of which, more than 107 million VND was mobilized by the Trade Union, the rest was contributed by family and relatives.

"Without the Union, I don't know how my family will fare. Having this roof is a great motivation for me to work with peace of mind and try harder, Ms. Thu emotionally shared.

Also thanks to the timely support of the Union, Ms. Duong Thi Kieu Hoa, a worker at TunTex Soc Trang Company Limited, has overcome the difficult period after a traffic accident that occurred in early 2025. On the way home from work, Ms. Hoa unfortunately had an accident, leading to a broken left collarbone and injuries to many areas of her body.

"I kept thinking about having to take a long day off work, worrying about not knowing where to get money for treatment. But the company supported all hospital fees, the Union supported part of the costs. When I returned to work, I was assigned a job that suited my health. I am very touched and motivated to continue to work better, Ms. Hoa shared.

Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai - President of the Can Tho City Labor Federation - said that in the past term, the Trade Unions at all levels have achieved many outstanding results. During the Lunar New Year, Trade Unions at all levels supported more than 289,000 union members and employees with a budget of over 125 billion VND. The Fund for Supporting Capital for Poor Workers has lent 3,000 times with more than 30 billion VND; coordinated with the Social Policy Bank to support 33 projects to borrow 2.3 billion VND, contributing to creating jobs and increasing income for workers. In the 2024-2025 period, from the Golden Heart Social Charity Fund, Can Tho branch and mobilization sources, the Trade Unions at all levels have supported the construction of 373 Trade Union Shelters for union members in difficult circumstances.

Sending hopes to the 14th National Party Congress

From specific, everyday stories, many union members and workers expressed their respect and thanked the Trade Union organization for always caring for and accompanying them in both favorable and difficult times. At the same time, he expressed his high expectations for the 14th National Congress of the Party.

According to Mr. Ly Truong Giang - a union member of Khanh Sung Company Limited (Can Tho City), the lives of workers currently depend mainly on monthly salary and bonuses for holidays and Tet. In the context of economic difficulties, many businesses lack orders, workers' income is reduced, many people are at risk of black credit loans. If workers in difficult circumstances are supported with loans through the entrustment of the Social Policy Bank with low interest rates, it is very good. It will both help them stabilize their lives and limit the situation of black credit loans, Mr. Giang suggested.

Union member Tran Hai Trieu - Trade Union of Sao Ta Food Joint Stock Company (Can Tho City) said that in the context of rapid development of science and technology, workers really need to be trained and improve their skills to avoid the risk of being eliminated from the production line. Mr. Trieu hopes that the Trade Union will coordinate with sectors and levels to organize many vocational training classes and foster skills in accordance with local strengths.

Sending her thoughts to the 14th National Congress of the Party, Ms. Trang My Nhut, a union member of the Trade Union of HS Vietnam Chemical Company Limited - Soc Trang Branch, hopes to have more practical policies to support and encourage workers; launching extensive emulation movements; increasing the dissemination of laws and knowledge of labor safety, helping workers raise their awareness of self-protection and feel secure in long-term commitment to the enterprise.
