Hue Trade Union needs to improve digital skills for union members and workers

On the morning of December 28, the 16th City Trade Union Congress, term 2025 - 2030, took place in Hue City. Attending and directing the conference were Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang.

177 billion VND to take care of union members' welfare

In the period of 2023 - 2025, the work of caring for the lives of union members and workers (Union members, Laborers) has been implemented proactively and flexibly by trade unions at all levels, in accordance with the socio-economic situation, leaving many positive impressions.

The entire system has taken care of more than 1.6 million members and employees with a total budget of over 177 billion VND. Notable are the "Tet Sum Vay" program, supporting 164,029 members and employees with more than 46.7 billion VND; the "Union Tet Market" program through e-commerce platforms supported 3,841 union members with more than 1.4 billion VND.

Leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Hue City directly visited and presented Tet gifts to more than 500 union members and employees in difficult circumstances, with an amount of 650 million VND. Trade unions at all levels have also proactively supported more than 2.3 billion VND to help union members and employees stabilize their jobs and overcome damage caused by storms and floods in 2025.

Chairman of the Hue City Labor Federation Le Minh Nhan said that the common goal in the new term is to build a strong and comprehensive Trade Union organization, truly becoming a reliable support for employees; focusing on the grassroots, taking the Union as the center. At the same time, the Trade Union organization must innovate and be creative, meeting the development requirements of Hue City in the new period - a "green - smart - rich in identity" urban orientation.

Three breakthroughs identified by the Hue City Labor Federation in the new term include: Promoting digital transformation in all union activities; focusing on developing units, especially in non-state enterprises and the informal labor sector; enhancing dialogue and collective bargaining, prioritizing issues on wages, welfare, safety and hygiene.

5 orientations for the new term

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung - Secretary of the Hue City Party Committee requested that in the new term, the Hue Trade Union should regularly pay attention to caring for the legitimate interests of members; better perform its role of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of members and employees. This is a key point to attract employees to voluntarily participate, stick with and trust the Trade Union organization. Hue City will review and increase the construction of social housing for workers in industrial parks, and at the same time study policies for borrowing and purchasing social housing for union members.

In order to better clarify the theme, goals and tasks of the coming term, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang suggested a number of issues, specifically:

First, focus on effectively performing the function of representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of employees. Proactively advise on mechanisms and policies, especially on training, retraining, improving skills so that workers have sustainable jobs in the context of digital transformation; promote dialogue, negotiation, signing of collective labor agreements, focusing on issues of wages, benefits, working conditions, occupational safety and hygiene and the right to study of workers.

Second, strongly innovate propaganda, political, ideological and legal education for workers in a flexible, modern and effective manner; harmoniously combine in-person and online forms, ensuring "fast - short - clear - in-depth", helping workers easily access, understand correctly, enhance political courage, sense of law compliance and industrial style.

Third, promote the role of the Trade Union organization in training and improving vocational skills and digital skills for workers, contributing to building the working class into a creative force, adapting and leading digital transformation. At the same time, promote digital transformation in trade union activities, considering this an urgent task to innovate and better serve workers.

Fourth, effectively organize patriotic emulation movements, focusing on the movement "Good workers, creative workers", associated with the goal of socio-economic development. Focus on discovering, nurturing, and replicating good models and outstanding initiatives; promptly honoring, rewarding, and creating a widespread influence.

Fifth, resolutely develop trade unions, establish grassroots trade unions, especially in the tourism, service and informal labor sector; associated with building a team of brave, dedicated union officials close to the grassroots. Thereby, contributing to building a clean and strong Party and government and building a modern and strong working class.

In order for the Resolution and the spirit of the congress to spread and become practical soon, it is recommended that immediately after the Congress, the Executive Committee of the new City Trade Union urgently develop an Action Program to implement the Resolution with specific tasks and solutions; prioritize resources to implement breakthroughs, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang emphasized.
